Enter the Travis Suite, one of six Refurbished Historical Landmarks at McKenzie Guest House. Originally built in 1907, this charming establishment holds a rich history of welcoming travelers from near and far.

This delightful haven is saturated in history and comfort, designed with family gatherings in mind and spacious enough to host up to four guests. Spanning across two stories, this cherished suite not only offers upgraded amenities but also exudes a distinct personality.

On the ground floor, you will find a comfy Living room that provides a queen sleeper sofa. You will be able to enjoy a movie or two on the 55-inch smart TV that blends seamlessly into the backdrop of historic charm.

As you ascend the winding spiral staircase, envision the rich history you are a part of and find solace in the queen-size bed. You will have access to a spacious walk-in closet alongside an en-suite bathroom complete with a tub/shower combination—a perfect haven for relaxation after a day of exploration. For those outdoor lovers, you will also be able to step out onto the covered terraces (on both levels).

Indulge in the irresistible allure of the Travis Suite, where every nook whispers tales of bygone eras, and each passing moment is steeped in the genuine warmth of hospitality.

Things To Know:
-These charming suites are part of a shared building, each offering its own unique ambiance and amenities. Additionally, for those seeking a collective experience, all six units can be booked together, providing a perfect setting for family reunions, group getaways, or intimate celebrations amidst the historic charm of the McKenzie Guest House.
-The main building, standing tall as the original two-story hotel, once provided respite to stagecoach travelers and offered lodging and meals for the modest sum of 25 cents!
-1 dog is welcome in this home. No other animals are allowed without specific SunnyDays approval.
-Please note the pet fee in your booking is 'per pet'. If you're booking more than 1 pet, the additional pet fee of $80.00 (plus tax) will be required to be paid after booking.
- Internal and external steps are required for access
- There are other bookable vacation rentals on-site that share the deck, picnic area, and grill with this unit; other travelers may be present during your stay

Great for a short weekend stay!

This was the perfect location between lots of places to see and right in downtown so we could walk to get food. I wouldn’t stay in this specific suite if we were planning to lounge at the house more during the day just because the couch isn’t very comfy for more than one person. But for a visit with lots of outings, a toddler, and needing to sleep, this was perfect! Bonus points for cuteness!

Great location and parking, well done vintage property.

Parking was a plus, my kids brought recreation vehicles in a trailer. This home had a perfect parking area for us. We enjoyed walking across the street to downtown entertainment in the evenings. The bed and couch were comfortable to sleep on and the unit was very clean.

Initially booked Travis Suite, once we got there it was just too small and the stairs though cute, felt a bit precarious. We contacted the property manager who immediately moved us to the Buchanan Suite which was very cute! Pics of outside of property look a bit better than it looked for us. Was in need of a little TLC. Location was great, very near everything to walk. Patrons of bar across the street and traffic were very noisy 2nd night, but that’s no reflection on property itself.

The property was fine. I would not stay again with a 2 floor round twisting staircase. The noise was not good. The fist night there was alot of street noise, people screaming and yelling till 2:30 in the morning. The secod night not as loud in the road but someone rented the suite next to us and they were extremely loud till 3am. Definitely a party zone.

Quaint and Cute

I really enjoyed my stay. It was quaint and the decor was cute. The kitchen was very helpful. I loved the rounded staircase. On the weekends it can get a little loud with the brass hall across the street, but otherwise it’s quite quiet. Occasionally I could hear live music for a few hours and I actually enjoyed that. Having the upper porch with the rocking chairs was nice. I could sit and relax and enjoy the afternoon.

Cozy but LOUD

Travis is the cutest little spot to stay. Perfect walking distance to downtown and several eating places. The decor and space was enjoyable. The only downfall is the disrespect from those leaving the bar at 12 and 2:15 am. Honking, screaming, racing of vehicles it was beyond ridiculous. The other reviews said a little Noise, but it was EXTREMELY loud and we were unable to sleep until after 2:30 due to the commotion.

Loved everything about it. Only thing not related to Ownership is the nighttime was loud with people, sirens and service trucks. other than that it was well run, clean and neat to have downtown at your doorstep.
