Mink Basin Cottage

We had a wonderful stay at the Mink Basin Cottage. This was once a family homestead of ours, and it was truly special to revisit and relive some cherished memories. The hosts were amazing—thoughtful and welcoming—and even surprised our children with some toys as we were leaving.

Family time on PEI

Cosy stay at this typical PEI rural farmhouse. Reminds one of a stay at your grandparents in years past. Rooms are on the small side but certainly big enough for our needs. All the amenities one needs for comfortable stay. Beds were comfortable and linens good quality

Perfect base camp for exploring PEI

We enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere of PEI. We selected The Cottage at Mink Basin because it was close to a wedding we were attending. The beaches, lighthouses, and seafood were perfect. It was a wonderful vacation for us. The cottage was perfect - cosy, comfortable, and quiet. The location is great for sightseeing the eastern side of the island.

Wonderful spot for families

Used the house as a base for a family wedding and exploring the east side of the island. Host had all the necessities and then some - high hair and play pen with loads of toys for the grandson. Used the outside screened gazebo for a games night and fire side gathering. Four generations found the house perfectly equipped and the hospitality second to none.

Country Quiet

We had a blissful 3 nights at the Cottage. It is charming, with all the amenities we needed and more. We loved the big country kitchen and the gazebo. The manager was super, thanks Caron for all you did to make us comfortable. If you want quiet with short drives to beaches, golfing and shopping, this is the spot! We even saw a pair of foxes at the property. It's country, so bring bug spray!

Fun times on PEI!

Caron was extremely kind and met us at the property to check in and tell us everything we needed to know about the home and property. The home was well stocked and in a great location on the east side of the island. (We loved the east side!) The house also had plenty of room. The only downside is there were a number of earwigs in the home, but we learned from other locals that this is an inescapable problem on the island. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Country living is bound to have some unwelcome guests, sorry about the earwigs. Earwigs tend to go anywhere there is moisture so it is important to keep wet clothes and towels hanging to dry. You just have to let me know when you see them. I have started to spread some diatomaceous earth around the house which should discourage them.. Caron

Beautiful country house for a getaway

We got the whole house and surrounding yards with fire pit area. It’s 10 minutes to drive to a beach. There’s everything you need in Montague, maybe 15-20 minute drive. For us, the idea was to unplug and relax and this was perfect. Caron was super responsive. The single bedroom doesn’t have air conditioning so that was uncomfortable for that person but we made it work.

We retired to PEI 20 years ago and haven’t stopped working since. 😁 The PEI people are so friendly and made us very welcome. We enjoy the many Ceilidhs and Kitchen parties , the concerts and the sports activities and so easily accessible. Easy parking and travel to and fro. We never planned on having a cottage business but it emerged through a septic tank repair job. We have done a lot of renovating to the 100+ Farm house and it gives us great pleasure to see families enjoying it.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

It is so nice to be able to stay in a home with a room for everyone. Small children can be tucked in at night while parents watch TV or sit outside without worry of noise keeping them awake. No need to bring all the linens , nor cooking equipment so less packing. There is a screened in gazebo an outdoor fireplace, wood provided, front patio, and back patio with BBQ. Enclosure. Free Laundry facilities.
