The house that Love built
The Downer House was built by Jack Downer in 1985 with help from his father and son.
Three generations of carpenters.
Jack and his wife Joyce shared many years here making beautiful memories with their children and grandchildren to whom they passed down a belief in strong family values.
Now their children continue the legacy of the traditional family atmosphere in the home away from home of " The Downer House"
You have a fully furnished Kitchen to enjoy "cooking at home" or have the choice of many fine restaurants throughout the Chattanooga Area.
You will have access to all the amenities of your own home without the "Hotel or Motel" feel of strangers one wall over.
This is a private Home offering the best in Family accommodations
Hardwood floors, clean living environment, no clutter
Three full bedrooms, Dressing room, two full bathrooms, a back porch area to accommodate the smokers , full kitchen with stove, microwave and refrigerator, we offer a pack and play for a baby and board games for young at heart. Smart TVs are located in every room with full Wi Fi access.
We take pride in treating all our guests as family and friends.
The home is all on one level upon entering the house.
Enjoy the night air rocking on the front porch gazing at the stars and enjoying a beautiful view of Lookout Mtn.

We had the most amazing stay at the downer house. It was so peaceful and quiet and our hosts make you feel right at home. They even showed up with a delicious thanksgiving meal for our family. The home is very spacious and we will definately stay here again. Thank you so much for the perfect family vacation stay

Loved our stay at this home in Chattanooga. Great location, close to downtown but felt like you were in the country with views of Lookout mountain. A delicious cake awaited us upon arrival which was fabulous since it was my husbands 75th birthday on that day. The home is much larger than it appears in pictures. If you live to cook and plan on doing much of it while there the supplies in the kitchen could use an upgrade. Would definitely stay here again.

Carylon was a wonderful host! She made sure that we had everything we needed and even brught over some homeade cooking. The home was very spacious and easily accomodated 5 adults. Everything was clean and the location was great.

Very Nice Place

The house was nice and clean and a good neighborhood. The property owner was very kind and even cooked us a couple of desserts and a pot of soup. She’s an excellent cook. The master bedroom has a king size bed with a full bath. The second bedroom has a full-size bed with a full bath. A futon can sleep two in the sunroom. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but I slept very well on it. Well laid out place and an excellent choice if you want to stay close to Chattanooga. It’s less than a mile to a couple of restaurants, fast food, gas, and groceries. It’s about 10 minutes to downtown Chattanooga, and 15 minutes to North Shore . Excellent place.

Mountain home away from home

Very comfy clean home. All of us expressed how comfortable the beds where! The couches and front porch chairs where so nice. Every morning I seen a Mother deer with her 2 fawns. So peaceful. The owner is very sweet. She left a care package for us which was very thoughtful. My dog did very well. The showers have excellant water pressure. We had 7 stay and all had to get ready for a wedding. This home has a huge master bath with a dressing room with a huge mirror to support 4 adult women putting makeup on, and steaming clothes. I would stay here again, if ever I go to Chattanooga again!

Liked the location and it was quiet neighborhood. They could of worded the sleeping areas better in Expedia. I had to go to vrbo to find that out. It could have been swept better and the refrigerator was a newer model but I don't think it had been cleaned in a year or more.

The Home is strategically placed right on a corner plenty of front yard. Plenty of parking. The neighborhood is quiet and we’re not too far off the beaten path of Chattanooga less than 15 minutes. All the major attractions are within a 20 minute drive Lookout mountain Ruby Falls, the aquarium discovery museum and fantastic restaurants for your dining trip pleasure
