Thank you for your feedback. We must respectfully clarify several important facts regarding this incident. The Yale electronic lock and access code were functioning properly at all times. The lockout occurred because the manual bottom lock was engaged before leaving the property, preventing the electronic Yale lock from opening the door. As acknowledged in this review, there was signage inside the unit specifically advising guests not to lock the bottom lock. Despite seeing that warning, a bottom manual lock was engaged when the guest left. Because the manual locks had been engaged, the property was physically secured from the inside. This also meant that when you arrived at approximately 3:00 AM, you could not simply enter the unit by yourself. Nevertheless I came to the property in the middle of the night and worked to restore access. We understand that being locked out is frustrating. However, it is inaccurate to characterize this as a failure of the property or electronic entry system. The Yale lock remained fully operational; the inability to enter resulted from the secondary manual lock being engaged. We take guest feedback seriously and have further clarified the signage to prevent a similar situation in the future. However, we respectfully disagree that the host should be held responsible for a lockout caused by a manual lock being engaged despite a warning inside the property.
