Are you a fan of modern architecture, drawn to historic homes, and eager to experience Usonian design firsthand? Then this is the stay for you.
If you're looking for a hotel-style experience or something more conventional, this home may not be the right fit — but for those who appreciate extraordinary spaces, read on.
The Suntop Homes is a lovingly cared for Frank Lloyd Wright original nestled in Ardmore, PA, and available for overnight stays. This is not a hotel — it's a singular, one-of-a-kind residence that invites you to truly live within a piece of architectural history.
The Space:
Sleeping up to 4 adults, the home offers a serene retreat with a generous private outdoor living space. Inside, an eat-in kitchen mezzanine overlooks a dramatic two-story living room anchored by a classic Wright fireplace (decorative only). The main bedroom features a queen-size bed and opens onto a balcony with tall parapet walls for privacy. Up a final flight of stairs, a penthouse level accommodates 2 more adults with a queen-size bed and a pull-out queen sleeper sofa, with in the penthouse level and direct access to the rooftop deck — the feature that gives the home its name. The home has one small bathroom.
■ Please Note: True to Wright's Usonian vision, this home features narrow staircases, overhanging eaves, floor-to-ceiling windows which are not covered with drapes or blinds, concrete floors, brick walls as well as unpainted barewood walls and areas with lower ceiling heights — all intentional design elements that blur the boundary between interior and exterior space. Please contact the host with any specific questions before booking.
Getting Around:
Beyond the home itself, you'll find an abundance of local restaurants, shops, and activities nearby. Just a few blocks from regional rail and Amtrak, a short train ride connects you to Philadelphia, New York City, or Washington, DC.
