Enjoy second story accommodations with private ground level entrance and parking, this unique suite situated above an old fashion general store puts you in the heart of the PA Grand Canyon. The cozy retreat features 2 comfortable bedrooms, a charming living/dining room and a kitchen with a range oven, full refrigerator and a microwave. With amenities like AC, heating, and WiFi, you'll feel right at home. There's also plenty of additional parking for your ATV or snowmobile trailer. Just 1.3 miles from Leonard Harrison State Park and 9.9 miles from the quaint town of Wellsboro. Surrounded by State Game Land. A great central location to call home while you're away.

It was a nice retreat with plenty of space. The space heaters kept us cozy in the cold October nights. Close enough to things we wanted to do and see. Good wi-fi. Would return!

its a nice apartment and clean. however, it sits on one of the busiest routes in the park. side by sides start at 6 am, motorcycles start at 8 am. traffic is nonstop until about 10pm. it is centrally located to everything you could want to do. there is no cell service and the wifi takes slow to a whole new level. its so bad you cannot even watch what they are calling a tv let alone use your phone to even look up the simplest of sites. if you are looking for a place to simply sleep this is what you are looking for. if you are looking for a relaxing campfire experience this is not it. i booked this through vrbo. i would not recommend using this site. it delivered all correspondence the day after we checked out. there was some important information that was needed to check in. the person we spoke with from the property was great. he was friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us some really nice information on the surrounding area and restaurants in the area. it was pet friendly.

Owner was very responsive and let us check in early as we were only staying one night to go to the parks. It was on the main road to the park so easy access. It was tidy, clean and cozy. Great deal for convenient location. We had a great time.

Absolutely charming apartment! Very clean and nicely decorated. Check-in was a breeze and the location was perfect - just minutes to the Grand Canyon and about ten minutes to Wellsboro. Ken, the owner, was super responsive and gracious - could not have been more helpful. We loved our weekend getaway to Omni’s Hideaway and will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

Tons of hiking in the area. The local town is super cute but only took a few hours to feel like you’d seen it. The real attraction is the state parks in the area. It’s a hikers paradise. Omi’s hideaway was adorable! The raccoon themed decor was our favorite and we had fun finding all of different raccoons. Everything was super clean and easy accessible. They had some cool ware which made our stay much easier as well. The host was very responsive and gave detailed directions of how to get to Omi’s hideaway. I had both of my dogs with me and it was a great pet friendly place for us to stay, felt very safe and quiet. Overall a wonderful trip and I would definitely come back and stay again!

This is a cute place attached to Omi's of the Canyon Store. We enjoyed the raccoon themed decor and quiet location. We appreciated the full sized frig and oven. However, the kitchen has limited counter space and poor quality knives, so we were glad we brought our own. The flat surfaces were not very clean.There are only a couple steps when you enter, which is nice. However, there is a strong musty smell when you first enter, so be advised if you are particularly sensitive.

My sister and I wanted to explore the PA Grand Canyon on our way to western PA. This little apartment was WONDERFUL as a halfway point. Everything was themed, which we found entertaining, the beds were comfortable. We didn’t use the kitchen, but it would have been adequate had we needed it.

At first i was a little skeptical however it was just what we needed. other than hearing occasional traffic it was a very peaceful location and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, We walked around the corner and stopped at the general store for ice cream and it was great at a reasonable cost. The owners were very nice people and we talked awhile

My teenage daughter and I spent two nights here and we had a lovely time! The hide-a-way was very clean and comfortable, and was well stocked with anything we might need during our stay (pots, pans, dishes, coffee, shampoo, conditioner, etc.). The owners had great communication and made sure that we were well taken care of during our stay. This property is in a rural area, so it is about a 15 minute drive to the town of Wellsboro, but it wasn't a difficult drive at all. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves back to this area.

Enjoyable Stay

This place is located less than 2 miles away from one of the various look-out stations for the Grand Canyon of PA. It is also 15 minutes away from the heart of Wellsboro. The suite is attached to a little convenience store (both owned by the same people). I had the pleasure of meeting Ken, who was very friendly and informative. He invited my dog and I to have icecream with them one night, however we were out too late in the night. A lovely place if you're looking to be very close to everything, and are not traveling with a large party. Just remember to bring shower amenities with you.

Having the opportunity to retire early due to her military career, followed by state employment, your hostess Susan (now better known as Omi) was looking for her next chapter in life.

On a drive to the PA Grand Canyon overlook at Leonard Harrison State Park one day, she was saddened to see the famous landmark once known as Animaland, which had been closed at this point for over a year, was becoming overgrown and in much need of attention. She also noticed a sign stating it was available. The challenge became clear, to bring this unique building back to life. By the fall of 2017 the restorations began, and by Memorial Day weekend of 2018 the doors were once again open under a new name - Omi of the Canyon. Concentrating on the gift shop and snack bar to get things started, renovations continued each year to offer more products and a greater experience to visitors. By the summer of 2024, Omi’s Hideaway was completed and is now available as a unique vacation rental.
