We've put off writing this review, because we hate to give a negative review, and we hope somehow that our experience was unrepresentative. We also really want to forget about our time here as quickly as possible, but in the end it seems only fair to warn other potential visitors. Please make sure you check with the owners about the level of the lake. On our visit, there was no water anywhere near the waterslide in the photos. Boats needed to be dragged out across perhaps 50 feet of solid mud to reach the start of the very shallow water, and we never managed to find a place for us to swim. So our children weren't able to actually play in the water at this "waterfront playground." Also please make sure that the owner knows what day you plan to arrive and that you prefer not to have anyone enter the premises during your stay without contacting you first. Although our dates were confirmed for a Sunday to Saturday stay, we arrived to find that nothing was ready for us. Instead of being able to check in at 2 on Sunday as scheduled, we discovered on arrival that we had not been expected, that cleaners were only just arriving, and the house would not be ready until 6. When I tried to explain to the owner that this represented a serious problem for us as we'd been being very careful to avoid exposure (to protect high-risk family members) he suggested we go out to dinner, opined that I was "making a mountain out of a molehill," complained that he was paying the cleaners $300 (apparently to fix his mistake about the dates), and loudly assured me that if I wanted to just go home that was my choice but that I wouldn't be refunded one penny. In short, the conversation went poorly enough that when we discovered various other problems with the house-- for example, the oven wasn't working and the water from the faucets had a strong smell that made us uncertain about using it for cooking or drinking-- we opted not to try contacting him again. We spent a few days hiking and swimming further north. Friday afternoon we arrived back from a wonderful hike (Bear Slides, in Warrensburg-- highly recommended) to find someone in the house. I was shocked. "But I have the key," I said. "We have one too," she said. She said they thought we'd gone. The owners had both our phone numbers, and of course also could have messaged us through VRBO. We gave up on our plans for a campfire that Friday night and just returned home early without spending the final night there.
This is the perfect small house on the lake. Property owners are very nice and responded quickly to any issue we had. House is very well stocked with everything you need for your vacation home. Great fishing at the lake and lots of fun using boat and canoe on the lake.
We had a great experience. The property is beautiful. We had everything we needed. Ray and Linda were wonderful to work with, very attentive and quick to remedy any minor issues. The double kayak was in need of repair and Ray worked like crazy to get us a replacement. Highly recommended.
This was our first experience with Vrbo and it was great. Ray and his wife are kind, gracious hosts. The place was exactly as advertised and more. We brought clothes and all food we needed and nothing more. House fulling stocked with dishes, towels and cookware. Beds were comfy. The deck loaded with comfortable chairs, we had great weather so were outside everyday. Ate at couple local places, enjoyed food and service even with covid-19. We are ready to book for next year!!!
The property is well maintained and well stocked. It was so great that all we really needed to bring to the cabin was food and clothing. We had access to a long dock and a bunch of different boats, which we made good use of. Another big plus is that the property is located across from a big island which blocks a lot of the waves created by motorboats and the wind, making for really great swimming and kayaking conditions. We didn't have any issues during our stay, but it was comforting to know that the property manager was nearby if we needed any assistance. The neighborhood is very friendly and walk-able.
I think it's safe to say that we are highly likely to return to this cabin in the future.
We had a very nice week at the lake. The outside space at this property is great! Large lawn, comfortable lounging and entertainment space/grilling/eating area. We enjoyed docking our boat on the nice long dock.
We had a great time and enjoyed the property. Ray was an awesome host and even replaced the hot water heater the same day it broke so we still got hot showers. Thanks Ray.
We just spent a week at this cottage and had a wonderful time. Being able to canoe right from the property was great and the waterfront view was spectacular. The property was as described and came with everything needed. Aside from many spots to visit on the Sacandaga, we hiked some trails to other lakes in Fulton County and visited Saratoga Springs; great location.

Wonderful family vacation!
This was our first vacation at Sacandaga Lake as we always stay at Lake George. We had a wonderful time. Ray was a great host and was very helpful during our stay. Lake was very clean and warm even in June.Amsterdam is only 20 min away- you can go do all your shopping there. Definitely recommend this place!!
