The amazing solitude is extremely quiet and peaceful day or night. If you come to Ten Bits Ranch when the moon cycle is dark, after 20 minutes (for your eyes to adjust), the stars will appear to surround you like a blanket. Be sure to watch for shooting stars. There is a shooting star in view at Ten Bits Ranch almost every week. Ten Bits Ranch offers a truly private, unique, off grid, dark sky star gazing experience that few people have the opportunity to see in person. The craggy Chimney Rock Mountain blocks out a beautiful black jagged silhouette in the blanket of stars.

Some of the unique features of the Freight Office are a private loft and mini kitchen with microwave, mini-refrigerator and sink. The second floor loft bed provides a beautiful view of Ten Bits Ranch, Hen Egg Mountain, the town center, and breathtaking sunsets and night skies. The Freight Office contains one king bed, a private kitchenette with mini fridge and microwave, flat screen HD TV (Dish Network), a private bath, WIFI, air conditioning.
The Freight Office is a Standard single king room and is part of a quad-plex with the Jail (room #13), Saloon (room #14) and Bath House (room #16) rooms. The Freight Office has double connecting door with the Saloon (#14) that can provide an excellent option for groups to share these rooms. To have connecting rooms, please reserve the Saloon to share these two unique rooms during your stay. The Saloon (room #14) and Jail (room #13) also offer double connecting doors. Book the Freight Office and the Saloon, Jail and Bath House for a great group stay. Please note that some noise could be heard from the double doors to the adjoining room.
The décor reminds you of the late 1800’s, but the amenities are modern. We are completely off the grid with solar powered energy. Our power system has proven to be more reliable than the local power company.
When you consider your options for Big Bend National Park cabins, you will be happy with our beautiful yet convenient location. We’re a short 15 minute drive to Terlingua and Study Butte. But we’re far enough away to rest and relax in the surrounding desert and mountainous topography and enjoy some of the best star gazing in Big Bend. Big Bend National Park and entrance to the Santa Elena Canyon Trail are just 20 minutes away.
