We rented the house (a rescued mansion from back in the heydey of Detroit) for my daughter's college graduation. It was perfect for this big family trip. My 90 year old parents and I loved the architectural features- og woodwork, floors and balustrade. My kids loved the basement rumpus room. Okay, I did play some Pacman- couldn't resist. It was well appointed, comfortable and had everything we needed in perfect working order. It's a neighborhood on the upswing. We were near to campus and cultural district. The Detroit Food Coop is a quick trip for any groceries needed. Host was thoughtful and responsive.

We had a wonderful stay in this spacious, historic Detroit home. It easily accommodated our large family, with a perfect gathering spot around the big dining table and plenty of room to spread out for games and long conversations.We did encounter a major glitch upon arrival, but the owner handled it immediately and with true grace and was incredibly responsive, helpful, and committed to making things right.Overall, a great home base for our family trip, and we appreciated both the charm of the house and the outstanding host support.

Great house for groups

We were a large group in town for a wedding. This house was great! First, it’s a beautiful historic home with many beautiful features. Second, the basement has games and space for entertaining teens.

Bachelorette weekend

We had a wonderful time at this BNB for my best friend’s bachelorette extravaganza! All twelve girls in our party comfortably fit in this property, and it was super clean and spacious. The property manager was incredibly kind and responsive. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to be close to downtown for a fun weekend with friends or family!

Beautiful House!

Very cool and historical house. Perfect for families. Has everything you need. Communication with property manager was excellent. Highly recommended. Everyone loved the house, even the children. My 9-year-old grandson didn't want to leave.

The house is a DREAM house with an amazing host - Butler. It was clean, has wonderful amenities, in a great location, very quiet, and SAFE. We were 10 minutes from downtown Detroit but you would never know it. The neighborhood / street is tree lined, quiet, and beautiful. You have very convenient access to the major highways (10 & 75). The house itself is very cool inside. This is a national landmark and must have been an automotive executive home with all of the details & luxury items. If you have a large group, this home would be a perfect landing spot. We would rent again in a heartbeat if we needed a place like this again in Detroit. Lastly, the host, Butler couldn’t be lovelier. His communication was fantastic and he was very accommodating.

I was born in Georgia but raised in Detroit. I spent my life in the city and surrounding suburbs. My wife and I are retired and love international travel. Seeing the world and observing different cultures is facinating for use. I enjoy hosting our house because it has so much character and charm. Being 116 years old and built like a battleship you can just sense the history when you step inside. And if you want to experience Detroit, there's no better location from which to begin and end your journey.

The Midtown Detroit District has the pulse of the City of Detroit. So many major attractions are within 10 minutes of our house. That includes the Fisher Theatre (walking distance), Detroit Institute of Art, Detroit Historical Museum, Ford Field (Detroit Lions), Comerica Park (Detroit Tigers), Lil Caesars Arena (Detroit Pistons/Red Wings), MGM Grand Casino, Motor City Casino, Greek Town Casino, Detroit Riverwalk, Motown Museum, General Motors World Headquarters, and a host of fine dining establishments and entertainment venues.

With 5,400 square feet of living space this house can very comfortably accommodate a gathering of 14 people. And when you step in this house you just know that they don't build them like this anymore. The Zacharias House was built 116 years ago to last forever.
