The drapes in every room were filthy. The bed with the gross bed skirt, had a broken leg so it was crooked. There was a door near the hot tub, it had gate latches on it, so it was difficult to open, but there was nothing on the other side, you’d drop down 1 story to concrete. The chandelier bulbs were covered in dust. You wouldn’t want to cook on that stove or put your food in the frig.. There was just a small grill, the grill area needs a power wash & clean out of trash in the corner. Every bathroom was gross & outdated. It was like a cheap beach motel. You would have come to the hotel with me.

Great location and views of the harbor from the living room. Very quiet and laid back neighborhood. Convenient store and taco stand walking distant as well as beaches. Perfect house for a family trip with games downstairs for the kids.

Good location. Easy walk to beach. Layout was great. Teens/kids downstairs with jack-n-Jill bathroom. Then master upstairs. Loved the hot tub. Could use a few more kitchen items and couldn’t find a broom:) But overall great stay! We would come back for sure!

Room for improvement

Outdated, good location, needs TLC. Check in was less than ideal on a last minute booking. Required face to face meeting, 100 deposit paid to the housekeeper after paying in full for the stay. Property not managed by owner rather a hosting company out of Texas whose representative couldn’t make a decision without checking with superior and calling us back.

Leilani, while we appreciate your honest feedback, we would like to help clarify a couple things. For last minute bookings, we do require a face to face meeting for safety/fraud protection. We make this very easy for you by meeting you on-site at your provided time, and is less than 5 minutes. The final credit card charge is part of this fraud-protection, and is immediately REFUNDED after the charge. While our guest experience is centrally located, our company is not out of state. Our employees and maintenance staff is local to Ventura/Oxnard and services the homes daily. We apologize for any of the inconveniences upon check in, and hope that we get the chance to give you a flawless stay in the future.

The property is fine, but VERY outdated. We had issues getting into the property because the deadbolt was locked, so we had to use the backup key. I messaged the host because the air-conditioning was not working in the house (the window unit did work). They asked me for a picture of the thermostat, but we had already left. I did explain what we did to try to adjust the temperature, but they never responded. The air never did work correctly during our stay. We ended up opening windows instead. Be aware that none of the windows have screens. The main suite had a TV tray set up on one side of the bed as a nightstand, but that was it. There are approximately 50 light switches, so it was trial and error to figure out how to turn lights on. The location is fine, but the house definitely needs lots of updates as it is pretty run down.

The issue was reported to us on the second day of your stay, but unfortunately, we were not given the opportunity to fix it or send a technician, as we were notified at the same time that you had already left the property. We appreciate you pointing out the quirks of our home, like the light switches and decor. While the house has a vintage charm, we take your comments about updates, window screens, and amenities seriously and are already addressing these details to improve the comfort of future guests. The deadbolt issue has also been resolved so check-in is smooth moving forward. Thank you again for your input, and we wish you all the best in your future travels.
