I really liked the space. Although I only traveled with 2 people, I was able to accommodate 8 family members overnight easily and could’ve slept probably 10. The location was great as well. Most places I visited in Lake County were under 30 minute drive. Gurnee, Round Lake, Zion. Non of the rooms have TV’s or bathrooms. There are two TVs in the house though and two bathrooms. There is a second suite attached to the garage with two rooms, living room and a bathroom. There’s a heater in one room but no heat in the second room which was pretty cold overnight. I ended up getting a space heater since there is no central heat/air in the additional suite. Overall it was a good experience and I would book again.

We wish negative stars were an option—this review is worth the 2,500 refund we were denied. Our family traveled from across the country for our sailor’s graduation and were excited to stay here, but immediately felt uneasy. The space was much smaller than expected, and we discovered a separate back house not clearly described in the listing, which wasn’t ideal with young kids. The property was dirty, smelled musty, and quickly became unsafe.The main house had windows painted shut (a fire hazard) and no heat. The host partially opened a few windows but couldn’t fix the issue. We were told HVAC would be repaired the next day, but it wasn’t. When we couldn’t accommodate another visit time, they dropped off tiny space heaters that were ineffective. We were so cold we had to use the stove for heat, increasing the safety risk.Frustrated, we asked to leave and receive a refund, but the host repeatedly delayed. VRBO said only the host could issue a refund. The host falsely claimed we refused HVAC access. We eventually booked another place and continued fighting for a refund. The host even offered money back if we agreed not to leave a review. VRBO ultimately told us to dispute the charge with our bank.Bottom line: unsafe, dirty, freezing conditions and no accountability. It’s worse than you think—don’t book here.

A recent guest shared some feedback so you can see what the majority of our guests typically experience: "Best of all, the hosts are at least 10x faster at responding than I am at looking at my email or the Vrbo app, both before and during the stay. My teen & adult kids have asked if we can stay here again if we are ever back in the area. I am recommending to you that you should stay at this property if you are ever planning to be in this area." I am so glad we were able to make this right by providing you with a full refund for you stay, even after sending out our HVAC technician to repair the heat on a 70 degree day, sending some space heaters in addition to another memeber of our team stopping by to ensure everything was in order for the rest of your stay. In addition to the full refund, I am glad we were able to provide you with a gift card to enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Thanks again for your feedback!
