Beautiful beach cottage conveniently located a short 3 minute walk from the beach. Nice accommodations and just-right creature comforts to make for a relaxing vacation in Surf City. Will definitely come back.

This house was perfect for my husband, our two teens and two dogs. Ernest supplied everything that was needed for the week (other than beach towels but we didn’t expect that). The beach was a two minute walk. The street was a quiet place. The fenced in yard allowed enough space for my dogs to walk around outside unleashed. The house was clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable to sleep in.

Everything was amazing!!! Even more perfect for the dogs!! There was a very short walk to the beach which is super convenient with kids. Definitely will stay here again!! Thank you for everything!

We enjoyed our stay at this house so much! Ernest is a wonderful host and messaged us to be sure we were enjoying our stay. The house is spacious & the open floor plan allowed us to be together whether someone was cooking, lounging on the couch or working a puzzle at the large dining table. The beach is only a short walk away so we were able to easily go back & forth for breaks, lunch, etc. Our dogs were so happy to be able to join us for vacation! The new fence Ernest installed is wonderful and I loved the security that our dogs (and kids) couldn't try to wander to the beach themselves lol. We can’t wait to return to Topsail and Ernest’s beautiful house!!

More than Expected..

Ernest was a great Host...great communication, easy check-in! The house is setup with everything you need! Nice 2 tier deck on the back of the home to sun bath or sit in the shade and just relax! We really enjoyed ourselves!

Wonderful Stay at Ernest's Beach House

The VRBO description was spot-on. Check-in consisted of punching in the key code and opening the door. The house was clean, comfortable, two minutes (really!) walk from the beach and was equipped with everything we could have wanted or needed, including beach chairs. The kitchen had all the appliances, dishes and utensils for fixing meals just like at home. There was even a new gas grille with a full gas bottle. The beds are very comfortable, and the linens and towels are good quality. The street is quiet and has neighborly neighbors who know and like the owner. The place is very dog friendly with almost no traffic on the street to contend with while walking your pooch. The front balcony has a power awning for afternoon shade and the rear porch has rooftop high upper level that’s the best place in the neighborhood to watch the sunset. Ernest responded to questions within minutes. My wife and I have used lots of vacation rentals, including in Amsterdam and Turkey, and Ernest’s place is one of the best. We’ll be back!

Great fit for our family

Just the right size for our 4-person family. Had room for another couple/grandparents/etc. Beds were very comfy (king bed is a must), gas/charcoal grill was great, short walk to beach with easy access, plenty of seating in living and dining rooms, very nice kitchen. Would definitely stay here again. We did bring our own beach towels based on someone else’s review, which was good that we did
 otherwise all bedding and towels were there. Plenty of parking.

Updated, Clean and Convenient

We stayed for one week. The house is so conveniently located to the beach and restaurants. It was a quick walk to a nice friendly spot on the beach. The kitchen and all the appliances are updated. The beds are comfortable and the living room has a nice amount of seating along with the dining area. We will definitely be back if available next year. Thank you!

Heavenly 💜

We throughly enjoyed our stay in Surf City! This was our first time, but definitely not our last! The owner was kind and quickly responsive. The house was very clean and had everything that we needed! We look very forward to coming back and staying even longer next time. We loved the close proximity to the ocean and the closeness of several restaurants. We walked out on the pier several times and enjoyed much family time. Thank you Ernest, we will be back!

We’ll be back!

Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home. We throughly enjoyed ourselves in the Topsail area & had an awesome day fishing the intercostal with Allen from Breadman Ventures Guide Services. The master bedroom bed was comfortable & the pillows too, HUGE plus! Loved cooking on the gas stove and the grill. Short walk to the beach and it wasn’t to crowded. Loved the convenience of the shower area at the bottom of the steps where you could wash off your feet. The deck also had a gate so I felt comfortable letting my corgi lounge outside. Comfortable outdoor furniture. The neighbors are all nice & spoke highly of Ernie. Theres a bagel shop beside Daybreak Donuts, recommend both! We got bagels to bring home with us. The Dutch apple pie donut is so GOOD! 12/10 recommend Maine Lobstah Shack, the lobster dogs are exceptional but the lobster mac n cheese is the holy grail. They have good sweet tea too.

Enjoyed our Stay

The remodeling upgrade choices in the house are nicely done with nice kitchen and bathrooms. Good air circulation with plenty of ceiling fans and dimmable lighting. The mattresses were good quality. Straight shot to the beach, very easy. Quiet location. Might want to bring your own beach towels. Would stay again.

The Perfect Getaway

Our family has stayed at this quaint cottage for 3 summers and hope to continue to come back each year. We love the openness of the living space and the privacy of the master suite. We love the close walk to the beach anytime, morning, noon or evening, but also the quiet walks in the neighborhood in the evenings with the dog. We get the best of both worlds here. It's always clean, beds are made (Yay!), towels available, fabulous pillows, gas grill access, porch awning on the front, and a beautifully decorated inside decor to enjoy for the week. It's perfect for our small family and sometimes additional friends who can join us. My daughter's dog loves it also. It is located next to a giant cottage, but the folks are friendly and it did not deter from us having a great time. When we have needed anything, we have been able to contact the owner with no problem. It definitely is the perfect getaway! A big THANKS to the owner for allowing us to stay there.

Overall I recommend this property

Clean. Recently remodeled. Convenient location. Short walk to beach access. Nice neighborhood. outdoor shower area to rinse off. Dog friendly. Hot tub was broken for our stay and that was a large part of the reason we had booked this house. It also would’ve been nice to have access to a broom or vacuum during our stay to clean up sand and what not. even though this is a Vrbo property you will need to get your own toilet paper and paper towels for your stay. That is something different we were not used to for a Vrbo property but nothing that can’t be fixed. Overall I would highly recommend this property. Inquire about hot tub before you book.

Don’t stay here

This house was dirty , pictures on verbo not like real house , hot tub broken , rats running in yard . Owners truck blocked driveway, Wi-Fi did not work , 2 eyelets on stove not working . Location good but needs a lot of work . I will not be back .

Great house

We had a great vacation in Surf City. This was our first trip to Topsail in several years. The house was excellent for dog owners. There were dog food bowls, a dog bed and a crate. The gate on the deck was perfect for our pups to lounge with us outside. The retractable awning provided a nice shady place to enjoy being on the deck. The home is in a nice, quiet area to walk the dogs around the block in the mornings and evenings. The home’s main area was very pretty and had nice, clean and updated furnishings. The kitchen was beautiful and there was tons of counter space, which came in handy when preparing meals for a family of five. All of the appliances are very nice. Bathrooms were extremely clean. The owner was very prompt to answer any questions I had. Beach access is right across the street and very convenient. Overall, we had a great vacation.
