This home was very clean and communication with the host was excellent. Gould City is extremely small, which we loved! There is a railroad track near the house, but in 7 days we heard a train 3 times and it was brief and not annoying or during the middle of the night. You must travel south 12-15 minutes-ish to a small park along Lake Michigan (Scott's Point). It is a fantastic beach that has picnic tables and lots of beach to play and swim!! As for the house, the yard was awesome, little to no traffic, and lots of parking! There was an issue with the previous renters not getting garbage out in time for pick-up which meant we had no room for our garbage. The host had the garbage company come on an off day to leave another garbage can for us. The kitchen is wonderful and the 2.5 bathrooms were helpful with 6 people. There were just a couple of things that we did not love. The curtains downstairs were sheer, which didn't provide much privacy. Upstairs there were no curtains on any of the windows, except the bathroom had a shade. I think the other disappointing thing is that the property description says there is air conditioning. That's half true. There is a portable AC unit on the main level that cools only about 400 square feet. There is NO AC for the upstairs!!! Beware! It's probably not a big deal most of the time, but it got really warm upstairs most days. Take fans along!!!! There is 1 ceiling fan for the 3 bedrooms and one box fan provided.
