The little apartment was perfect. It was quiet yet welcoming. It was remote yet close to downtown and a quick drive to shopping. Victoria was responsive and a gracious host.

The room was nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. The location was behind another house so better information about where to go would be very helpful. Although the ad mentions smoking, the room smelled heavily of smoke. This location is not for the non-smoker.

Regarding the location, I appreciate the suggestion to provide clearer directions. I’ll be updating the listing and check-in instructions to make arrival even smoother for future guests. As for the smoke smell, I’m sorry it impacted your experience. While the listing does mention that smoking is permitted, I understand that sensitivity to odors can vary. I’ll be taking extra steps to ensure the room is thoroughly aired out and freshened between stays to better accommodate all guests. We were beyond disappointed. The property was questionable upon arrival. There’s an empty overgrown pool right beside the rental. Stairs at entrance were scary, especially the railing. There was furniture that was stained and in disrepair. The toilet wasn’t clean. One of the sink faucets was broken. The shower dripped. Only one out of six lightbulbs worked in the bathroom. There was less than 1/4 roll of toilet paper. The lock on the outside door is something you’d expect on an out building. We asked for toilet paper, lightbulbs, a toilet brush that wasn’t stuck in the holder, some comet and hand soap to replace the empty dispenser. We got none of it. We had planned to stay two nights but simply couldn’t tough it out. We informed Victoria of the situation. Her response was “You aren’t coming back”. Not sure if she was asking or telling. We requested a refund for the second night based on the misrepresentation of the property on VRBO. We have yet to hear whether she’s going to do the right thing or not. It was BAD.

I'm truly sorry to read this review, especially given that it stands in stark contrast to the many 5-star experiences other guests have shared. I take great pride in maintaining a clean, comfortable, and welcoming space, and I’m disappointed that this guest felt otherwise. To clarify a few points: • The pool adjacent to the property is not advertised as part of the rental and is clearly marked as non-operational. • The stairs and railing meet safety standards and have never been flagged as hazardous by previous guests or inspectors. • The furniture is regularly cleaned and maintained, and any wear is consistent with normal use—not neglect. • The bathroom is thoroughly cleaned before each stay, and supplies such as toilet paper and soap are always stocked. If anything was missed, I wish I had been given a chance to address it during the stay. • I did respond to the guest’s concerns, and while I regret that they chose to leave early, I never intended to be dismissive. My comment was meant to acknowledge their decision, not to deny assistance. I understand that travel can be stressful and expectations vary, but I stand by the quality of my property and the care I put into hosting. I encourage future guests to read the many other reviews that reflect the true experience of staying here
