We love Garagemahal and the hosts! They could not be better people. This place is a gem! You canât go wrong if youâre interested in some skiing, hiking, or just looking to get away!
The garagemahal was clean and so comfy! Everything you need for a comfortable stay is right at your fingertips. Chip and Laurie are fabulous hosts. We had a wonderful stay. Beautiful scenery and fantastic memories.
Everything was exactly as expected! Very nice and welcoming hosts who were also super responsive. Outstanding location and close enough to town. Perfect for our quick family getaway over Thanksgiving!

Chip and Lorie were wonderful hosts and so friendly. Check in was awesome, felt like coming home. Loved the setup of the apartment, had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable. The area was beautiful, would have liked to stay longer.
the location was perfect, however we were not alone on property the owners are a stones throw away. they have elderly dogs that roam the property which caused a slight issue with us. nice parks close to hike and walk loved the area
Chip Chase and Laurie Little own and operate the White Grass Touring Center and Cafe since the 1970's. Chip is an all around naturalist while Laurie is one of the best read authors of two popular cookbooks.
Just over a mile to the western edge of Dolly Sods and Canaan State Park as well as adjacent to the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge. A short scenic jaunt to the bubbling sand spring Refuge boardwalk. Under 5 minute drive to the Nat'l Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center and a 9.5 mile, 20 minute trek to Laneville and the bottom of Red Creek Trail in Dolly Sods. The house is full of maps, guide books, and chapters covering the fascinating local natural history. We are in the heart of Appalachian diversity, home to many workshops, group hikes, outdoor activities, and a birthplace of many rivers. Summers are cool, often filled with thunderstorms, and breezy clouds. Four distinct seasons and a winter often accompanied with fresh snowfall. Chip and Laurie hold a deep understanding of the area and are willing to share it.
In winter to be trailside on one of the nation's favorite cross country ski areas and in summer within a short walk or drive to some of the finest white water streams, pristine swimming holes, wild caves, and the funky tourist towns of Davis and Thomas.
