We value your feedback. The device mentioned is simply a standard, optional door security bar provided for guest peace of mind, similar to the extra latches or safes found in major hotels. Our property is located in Winston-Salem’s historic West End—one of the city’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods—where classic architectural character is preserved. In all our years of hosting, we have never had any reports of insects, as we maintain a strict, ongoing pest control contract. It would have been helpful if a picture of the insect had been included in your photos. Had these issues and photo documentation been brought to our attention during your stay, we would have gladly addressed them immediately. I do thank you for choosing the West End Whisper.

I'm glad that you and your family felt secure and comfortable, but I apologize for the smoke smell. While smoking is strictly outdoor-only, the policy isn’t always followed as it should be. All air filters are being upgraded and replaced to address this, and it is very likely the smoking policy will be changed entirely to prevent any future issues for guests.
