10 min to Okemo and 30 min to Killington, Bromley, and Magic Mtn. Idlewild Cottage is a tranquil getaway nestled on the edge of Star Lake. The cottage itself provides a peaceful setting for relaxation, while the nearby towns contribute entertainment and establishments to explore.
The cottage is located on a private, dead-end dirt road which provides a quiet and tranquil spot to enjoy; be it sitting on the deck at night looking at the stars and listening to the peepers or sipping a morning coffee in front of the gas wood stove on the couch listening to the loons and morning doves. The small village of Belmont is less than half a mile away and boasts a general store (amazing cappuccinos, maple creemies and beer and wine selection) , historical museum, library and a town beach. The popular Buttermilk Falls is ten minutes away, as is the Jackson Gore ski resort. Vermont Country Store and the famous Weston Playhouse are fifteen minutes away. No matter where you turn, you are enveloped in quintessential Vermont.
The cottage is small but can comfortably sleep 2 adults in the queen bed in the first bedroom. The second bedroom has a twin daybed that can pull out to make a full. This set-up is best for kids only. The cottage is listed as able to sleep 3, but can comfortably accommodate two adults and two children.
There is a Wifi smart projector with built-in apps to watch movies on the wall. Kind of like the old days :). There is also a portable flat screen TV that can be moved into any room to stream videos.
Located right on the lake, we get the very best of Vermontâs famous snow! To ensure you spend your time on the slopes and not in a snowbank, please note:
Adventure-Ready Vehicles: To navigate our scenic, winding Vermont roads and snowy driveway, AWD or 4WD is required. (Please ensure your vehicle is winter-ready, as we cannot offer refunds for travel issues due to tires).
Parking: We provide convenient driveway parking for up to 2 vehicles.
Relax & Unwind: Our local plowing crews are excellent and our road and driveway is regularly maintained.
Our short dirt road is very well-maintained. There is a ditch for drainage along the uphill side that can be hard to discern in the snow. Please hug the side of the road closest to the houses.
