Our farmhouse, originally built in 1799, has a country feel while being close to the action. There is a separate entrance, free parking, a huge yard, and great views of the Maine sky. There are horses across the street, lots of flowers. Enjoy a real getaway with immediate access to Portland`s nightlife and dining scene.

Beautiful older home with lots of character. Comfy beds, updated appliances, well manicured gardens and pretty outdoor sitting area. Close location to the interstate and urban areas, yet in a lovely country setting.

Farmhouse as described for a quick trip

We enjoyed this well kept property with beautiful gardens. It was very pet friendly with a nice back yard area. We cooked steak on the grill one night.

Short and Sweet

While we were not there very long we did enjoy our stay! The inside was rustic and beautifully decorated and the outside was whimsical with flowers galore! We would definitely love to stay again if ever in the area!

My mother and family stayed and had the best time, so much so my mom extended it a night. The hosts were the best, flexible, and responsive. Cannot recommend enough!

We had an awesome stay at The Good Bones Abode. It was perfect for our family and 2 furry friends. The farm house is adorable and there was plenty of space, very comfortable beds and a kitchen that met all our needs. Cate and Hutch are wonderful hosts and Cate responded promptly to any questions we had. She also has fantastic ideas of things to see and do in the area. We loved the fact that it was easy to get to the beach or other places relatively quickly but was away from the hustle and bustle of town. The family is already wanting to plan a trip to stay there again next year.

The house is very cute and homey, and the yard was plenty big for us to enjoy (short walk, fire pit, lawn chairs). I love plants and animals and enjoyed both around the house. We encountered a flock of ducks on their afternoon stroll, and we got to wave at the horses from across the street. The house is an older country house with lots of character. Could get creepy at night with how dark it gets outside but plenty of lights and lamps in the house. We enjoyed the tv for movie nights and large kitchen table for dinner. The beds are a bit soft for us personally but perfectly fine and clean. Loved all the books! If you’re looking for a quiet getaway that’s not too far from modern amenities, stay here! Coffee is not included, but aroma joes is 4 mins away. :)

I'm an English professor and writer who teaches at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York, while residing in Scarborough, Maine, with my husband, Hutch, and our 16 year-old kid.

I love hosting because I am obsessed with creating beautiful spaces with the goal of offering guests habitats in which they may cultivate thinking and loving. I love knowing that guests will enjoy the smallest of details I've incorporated into the decor. I love to know that guests might find a book they really love on one of my (many) bookshelves.

Scarborough is perfect because: it feels far away from everything and yet it is close to everything. Portland, grocery stores, the airport, the post office, the mall! It is ideal. Also: the beaches. Scarborough has, hands down, the best beaches. Period.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

The Good Bones Abode is the home my husband and I built together.

Our yard is expansive and thrilling. We have tons of flowers and many places to sit. We are all about and abundance and beauty. We want your stay to be cozy and unique. We have created this space to feel special and homey. In short, our home is your home.

Sunny, comfortable, eclectic, and lots of books. Great views of the sky and super quiet. Rural setting but close to everything you'd want or need. You should know that the road in front of our house is not entirely quiet because it's one of those winding country roads that people love to drive fast on, so our place does not have an entirely secluded feel to it-- unless you're in the back yard or sitting on our back porch.

The Good Bones Abode is special: it has a fully-equipped kitchen that is a joy to cook in, two full bathrooms, three bedrooms, two dinings spaces (kitchen and dining room) and a funky (MCM decor) communal living room with a big television. There is also a small office just off the living room if you need to attend a zoom meeting or get some work done.

Two of the upstairs bedrooms sleep two (one room has a full-sized bed, the other a queen); the other bedroom sleeps one with a twin sized bed. The love-seat in the dining room on the first floor is a twin-sized sofa-bed, so that's one way to fit an extra guest! (My own mother, age 84, who has slept on the sofa bed, vouches that it is comfortable.)

One thing to know about our house: it was built in 1799 and, therefore, has low ceilings. This home was made for short people. There are lots of angled ceilings in the Good Bones Abode, particularly on the second floor. We like it. But if you are tall, look out! You might have to duck a bit when going down the stairs.
