Spend time among the redwoods near the fish pond in our elegant modern retreat with many artistic custom elements. Let the tension from the road melt away in our hot tub and spa like rain shower, then relax on our comfortable California King beds. Located in an upscale quiet neighborhood in the hills above Arcata, near extensive redwood hiking trails. Unwind in our sheltered outdoor living room, with a fire pit by the pond. Please keep voices low out of consideration for the neighbors.

The space
Carefully designed to be a relaxing forest retreat, this recently remodeled 900 sq. ft. downstairs apartment was crafted with an artistic eye, many custom built elements create a decor that is simple, peaceful and elegant. A brand new central heating system creates a warm cozy feeling in minutes. Wash the road off in our rain shower, bundle up with blankets for on demand tv, or choose soft music and mood lighting. You have arrived. You can forget about where you came from for awhile!

A couple of considerations: We have done what we could to make this home wheelchair friendly, eliminating every step except for the curb of the shower. At this point however, we do not have grab bars installed and the driveway is also a steep incline.
Guest access
Feel free to park in our driveway! Enter the gate and the front door is past the pond on the right. Welcome!
Other things to note
There are safety fences available for the fish pond if toddlers are visiting.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The home and outdoor space felt peaceful, thoughtfully designed, deeply relaxing, and offered us a perfect base for exploring the redwoods. Our favorite moments were slow mornings sipping coffee on the patio, listening to the birds, watching banana slugs wander through the garden, and gazing up at the towering trees. After long days hiking, soaking in the hot tub surrounded by the forest was blissful. The location was convenient for both adventures among the redwoods and enjoying good food in town while still feeling tucked away in nature. We left feeling restored and already dreaming about coming back.

Property is fabulous. Wish we would've been staying more than 1 night. Amenities were great, outside space was fantastic (hot tub was great). Entire space was cozy and had the best vibe. Hosts were great with communication. Easily one of the top VRBOs I've ever stayed in. We'll be back.

Everything was decorated beautifully and comfortably! We were surrounded by beautiful trees and beautiful woodwork. We have stayed in many rentals and this was by far the best. Thank you so much for a beautiful relaxing stay! We will definitely be back.

The place was immaculate, and the outdoor area was incredible, usable in any kind of weather. The hosts were helpful (I forgot to bring flour for the chicken parm), and even though it was very close to town and activities, it was in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood. The landscaping on the property and on surrounding lots was awesome. The accomodation for our dog was great. It's probably the best guest accomodation I've been in yet.

We absolutely loved our stay here. This property is truly special. The patio became our favorite place — soaking in the hot tub, relaxing in the outdoor seating area, and just staring out into the redwood forest felt peaceful and unforgettable.Inside, the home is beautifully designed and you can tell so much thought went into every detail. It felt elevated but also incredibly comfortable and welcoming. The beds were some of the most comfortable we’ve slept in while traveling, and the kitchen was stocked with absolutely everything we needed plus thoughtful extras like coffee, condiments, and even a bottle of champagne waiting for us.Every little detail made us feel cared for and made the stay feel effortless. We honestly loved everything about this house and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommend.
