Easy check in, super convenient location, attentive host, offered fresh linens during my stay, helpful with logistics, all good. In all old town locations, there is generally ambient noise/lights from adjacent residents and the street. Did not bother me—this place was quieter than most.

À propos de l’hôte
Hôte : Morey
I am an American retired university professor with four decades experience teaching psychology. I inherited the property from my grandfather the Marchese whose family built the building in the early 1800s. My father, a captain in the Army Aircorp married my mother at the end of WWII and she moved toRochester, MN. My mother and siblings moved back to Naples in the fifties and we lived in the building for a couple years. I have fond memories of living in Naples despite a major culture shock. The love from our Italian relatives was all that mattered and smoothed the transition.
Casa delle Carrozze originally was a stable for horses and to house a carriage of the Marquis Venusio. The left side was where the horses were kept and the floor was sloped for easy cleaning. This floor was covered over when the place was converted to a living quarters for the porteriere or building custodian. The side still has a slight slope and the pavers in the courtyard are still present under the new floor. We spent a year restoring the property we inherited and brought to modern living standards. The ring for tying up the horses are still present in the outside wall. We restored the property with intention to offer it as a vacation rental. It has been a labor of love and we spared no expense to make the property as comfortable as possible. Book with confidence. You will be in good hands.
Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement
Casa delle Carrozze is located between Via Toledo and spaccanapoli. So it is in the of the vibrant part of the city. La Trattoria Nennella is a two minute walk and the popular restaurant in Naples with huge lines. If you want to do your own cooking the open air market Pignasecca is very close and gives you the experience of how shopping was years ago. When I lived in the building in the 50s merchants would come by with their carts and you would shop from the balcony by lowering a basket (panettiere) from the balcony. Next to the the stairs is a whole which was a tube that was used to communicate from the apartment of the marquis to the porteriere. No yelling into courtyard from above, very discreet.
Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
The property is unique from the standpoint that you live off the courtyard you do not to hassle with lots of stairs or miniature elevators. The high vaulted ceilings s thick was adds to the sense of history. During the day you are immersed in the vibrant city and a night when the main door to building is closed you have a quiet escape from the city. The space in front of the property will accommodate a medium sized car and no one parks there except our guest. You are footsteps away from the vibrant city life of Naples. The property is located on a major street and not hidden in an alley. The building sits on Piazza Monteoliveto with imposing fountain of King Carlo II. This provided a large open space to sit in the nearby cafe O’ Murzil and drink your coffee while taking in the surrounding beauty of the square especially of the Palazzo Gravina. Nennella’s is two minutes away and one of the most popular restaurants in Naples. Lively Neapolitan waiters erupt with Neapolitan folks songs. Ten minutes walk and you are at the Pignasecca an open air market where Neapolitans have been shopping for centuries. Fresh fish and vegetables are sold right on the street. Gives a feeling of how life was years ago. You are walking distance to the Museo Nationals where most of the artifacts of Pompeii are housed. Piazza Gedu and SpaccaNapoli are two minutes away. The pharmacy across the street used to have a jar of leeches on the counter in the fifties for medicinal purposes. Somewhat shocking for a seven year old!
