Two queen beds with fresh linens, fluffy pillows, cozy blankets, and blackout curtains ensure restful sleep. The Great Room faces south, for passive solar heating and unmatched natural light. Local guide books reveal hidden history. The kitchen is new, equipped for cooking, including oil and spices. A LayZBoy recliner couch is in front of the E-fireplace. The 50-inch smart TV connects to your devices. Hiking, biking, kayaking, birdwatching, or simply a peaceful retreat, this property offers a variety of activities. Renting directly with locals, rather than platforms, keeps cash in the community. 😉 Enjoy the trails on the South slope, and the meadow. Our smaller building and meadow are used by our martial arts group. Ask about retreat pricing, we can recommend local caterers, and provide yoga mats, blocks, and foam rollers. Quiet retreats only, please. 🤫 All new construction, single level with wide doors & step-in shower. We have a Level 2 E-vehicle charger, and adapters. Loved the area. House was very clean and the host were very polite. The water has a very foul odor from the well, but that is not within the host control so everything else was excellent.

The well passes all health standards, but the H2SO4 has a sulfur smell.
It is good for skin, we’ve been tempted to market it as “spa water” 😉.
We’ll update the well as soon as we can afford to, until then, we include fragrance tabs for the shower. 😎

Hôte : Emily & Chuck Gordon
Locally owned! Chuck is a retired DOD civilian & disabled Veteran, & Emily, a lifelong naturalist active with the Potomac Audubon Master Naturalists. She grew up in Austin, Texas. She & Chuck met doing Classical Japanese martial arts, & have lived in Indiana & Bavaria together. Chuck served in the US Army, then as a DOD civilian in public affairs & media relations. Emily is a Fascial Fitness trainer, & mechanic for the human body, trained in Rolfing® structural integration & osteopathic manual technique, in Germany & the US. If you would like a "trail tuneup" a Fascial Fitness session (we provide mats & foam rollers) or nature & bird walk, check out our Options & Extras (subject to availability). The property has been our ecological restoration experiment, since 2015. You may notice that there is less underbrush, & there are a lot of small trees in cages (built by Chuck). The land is "in rehab" systematically suppressing invasive olive, honeysuckle & Ailanthus. Emily also sprays poison ivy & ragweed (can't get all of it, so be careful!). Chuck mows walking paths, & the clear area to the East of the rental. The rest, we leave in meadow, for butterflies, birds & pollinators. Many of the young trees are white oak, a keystone species long missing from the local ecosystem. There are wild black raspberry & honeysuckle vines, as well as lemon balm, thyme & sage plants, for use in drinks, & cooking.
