Great host, great house with amazing views. The house is clean, it is in a really quiet area, it is spacious (particularly for 2 people) and has all facilities one could possibly want. We had a great 5 days and look forward to returning. Thank you, João.

The bay house

The house was warm and inviting. Our host was incredible. I recommend this house to stay and I plan on returning and hopefully getting to stay in this house: it was an incredible experience

As good as it looks!

What an incredible place. The view is spectacular and the place itself is a total treat in all regards. The location just outside of Funchal works well especially if you have a car. The host is very welcoming and more than happy to share personal tips (which were excellent) from his lifelong experience on the island. Would stay there again without a moment’s hesitation.

Bay House Stay

The house is wonderful- open setting-all windows over looking the ocean- you open the big sliding glass doors and the ocean air comes in both the living/kitchen area and the bedroom-The kitchen has everything you need and more- Our host John was so incredibly helpful with checking us in, showing us around and even helping us find the grocery market with wonderful suggestions as to what the best produce/fish to buy- I highly recommend the Bay House and hope to return in the near future

Spectacular views of Funchal!

The home sits high above the city of Funchal. It offers beautiful views of the Atlantic and the city, morning, noon and night. We had coffee every morning on the deck. It is a bit far from the city without a car. If you have a car be prepared for the steep driveway and winding roads. The house itself is very well built and supplied with everything you need. I will say that the common area furnishings are a bit tired. Jaoa was a welcoming host. We arrived very late and he waited for us and also had bread, bananas and water for us. We were enchanted with the island of Madeira. We did look forward to arriving back to the house after a busy day of touring.

Hospitality at Its Best

We recently had the most amazing one-week vacation at this rental home. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we were in for a treat. The house was exceptionally well equipped, providing us with everything we needed during our stay. One of the highlights of this rental was the breathtaking view it offered, augmented by the design of the home with its wall of windows facing the ocean. The balcony lounge chairs allowed us to relax as we overlooked the ocean with views out to Funchal and the mountains beyond. We looked forward to returning after a day of exploration. The proximity to the ocean allowed us to hear the Cory's Shearwater birds at night with their distinct "wacka wacka" call. The beds and pillows in the house were comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The rental was impressively spacious. It exceeded our expectations, and the pictures truly did not do it justice. We greatly appreciated having access to a wide range of channels, including streaming services. The location of the home is convenient to Funchal and yet sufficiently removed to provide a more serene atmosphere and access to eastern parts of the island. There are restaurants and shopping nearby. The hospitality we received from Joao, who greeted us and gave us a tour, was appreciated, as was his gift bottle of Madeira wine, a thoughtful gesture. Without a doubt, if we have the opportunity to stay here again we will.

Stunning Views

The property had spectacular views and was great that you could open up all the doors for the fresh air to flow though the property. I loved sitting out on the balcony with a glass of wine and a good book. The bedroom and bathroom were one room, the toilet had a separate room. The only downside was walking down the drive to get a taxi/bus this was very steep. If you rent a car the drive is very steep and it takes a bit of steering to turn the car around, but is manageable. Taxi fares were reasonable it cost us 10 euros into old part of Funchal.
