The condo was an awesome place to stay. Comfortable for staying in on the one rainy day and as our base for exploring Hawai'i. The unit was a little warm when we arrived. The big sliding glass doors and fans help the air circulate. I couldn't stay here in the summer with no AC.Housekeeping should do a better job at addressing kitchen odors from previous guests.

We appreciate your comments regarding temperature and housekeeping. As noted in the listing, the unit does not have air conditioning and relies on natural trade winds, ceiling fans, and large sliding doors for airflow—features many guests enjoy during much of the year, though we understand this may not be ideal for everyone.
Regarding the kitchen odors, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. This is not the standard we expect, and we will follow up with our housekeeping team to ensure additional attention is given to this area moving forward.

We were generally happy with our vacation rental in Kona. We appreciated the newly updated condo and furniture. That said there were some things that could be improved upon.We were 4 retired adults traveling together. The master bedroom and bath were nice, although the toilet paper holder was detaching from the wall. The 2nd bedroom closet was locked. This left no place to hang clothing, store travel bags, shoes etc. Living with stuff stacked around on the floor was not the best experience. In the main bathroom the towel bar by the sink was falling off the wall and there was no trash receptical in this bathroom. There was also not adequate towel bar space for two wet towels or damp swim suits. There were no full length mirrors in the unit. The closet area holding the broom and dustpan was locked making it difficult to clean up after ourselves.In the kitchen there was only one hand type towel. More dish drying towels would be appreciated. There were also no glass or metal pans for roasting in the oven (there was a large turkey roaster). A digital meat thermometer and salad tongs are a couple little things we missed.On our checkout day we had no hot water. If this was not an accident it was very inconsiderate and detrimental as we did not put in a load of laundry (to be helpful) to be washed in cold water and showers were out of the question. Also, we had contacted Knutsen and Associates regarding the potential construction occuring during our stay and were told there would be no work happening during that time. This was incorrect as jackhammering next to the pool area was happening, making the pool essentially unusable during much of the on several days.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate you highlighting the newly updated condo and furnishings, and we’re glad you generally enjoyed your stay in Kona.
We’re sorry to hear that several maintenance items detracted from your experience. The loose toilet paper holder and towel bar should have been caught during inspection, and we’ve already scheduled repairs to ensure those are properly secured. We also appreciate your notes regarding towel bars, additional dish towels, and the trash receptacle in the guest bathroom — those are easy improvements and helpful suggestions.
Regarding the locked second bedroom closet and supply closet: one closet is reserved for owner storage, which is standard in many vacation rentals, but we understand how that can feel limiting when traveling with multiple adults. We will review the storage configuration to ensure adequate guest hanging space is always available.
We also appreciate your feedback on the kitchen items. While the home is stocked with standard cookware, specialty items like digital thermometers and certain utensils are not always included — but your suggestions are noted and will be reviewed.
We sincerely apologize about the lack of hot water on checkout morning. This was not intentional, and there was no effort to restrict utilities. It appears to have been an isolated issue, and had we been notified during your stay, we would have dispatched maintenance immediately.
With respect to construction, we understand how frustrating unexpected noise can be. We do post notices on our website and in pre-arrival communications when we are made aware of scheduled work. Unfortunately, in this case, the timing and scope of the jackhammering changed after prior guidance indicated there would be no work during your dates. Construction within resort complexes is outside of our control, but we absolutely understand how it impacted your pool enjoyment.
