Lovely 2-bedroom house in Grand Marais

Nestled in Grand Marais, this delightful house is an enchanting retreat for families with small children. With 2 bedrooms featuring a queen and king bed, this gorgeous property offers a cozy living room with a sofa bed and pack n play for additional space. Our sweet little place will help you feel at home while you're traveling to Grand Marais. In the summer the garden is lush and peaceful, and there is even a loft for kids to read and play. The home is 500 feet from Lake Superior (the cleanest lake in the world!) but it not have direct beach access, the best beach in town is a 5 minute drive. It is just 1 mile from downtown Grand Marais: the "coolest small town in America" just moments from the Gunflint trail - Superior National Forest and countless adventures: canoeing, hiking, swimming, sailing, classes at the North House Folk school and Art Colony. It is directly on Hwy 61, so in the summer if your windows are open, you will hear they highway noise. The advantage to that is that you will have a great deal more privacy, parking and garage space than you will have if you are in the town of Grand Marais, you will also not have the noise of town. The garage offers you a huge area of space to unload gear or prep for a trip to the Boundary waters, day hikes. or store your things for the beach out of the rain and snow. The yard is very spacious and private as well, there is a deck and also a patio underneath by the secret garden. Since we are part of the EcoBnb you can be assured that you will not have any indoor air pollution in the form of detergents or harsh chemicals or fragrances. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and baking. It truly is the perfect family vacation spot.

Best place to stay in Grand Marais! The host was super responsive and kind, the location of the home couldn't be better, and the accommodations were clean, cozy, and great for our family. We stayed there with our two kids, cooked, and explored the local town and hiking. My kids loved playing in the little hidden play room up the ladder and the beds were super comfortable. Grand Marais is a place that is lacking options, this is one not to miss. We are planning to come up and stay here again soon!

This is a fantastic rental for the price, location, amenities, and natural beauty! To start the managers are super responsive and kind. A blizzard hit while we were up there and there was great communication and the driveway and sidewalk to the house were plowed and shoved in a very timely manner. The kitchen well stocked! Want to make waffles or grilled sandwiches on your trip up north then got for it. There isn't a TV (for those looking to get away) and there is a great selection of games to play while watching the wildlife out of the windows. Wifi is really good for checking in with family/friends/work. This stay was super stress free - I can't wait to stay here again.

We are transplants from the big city (mpls) but have always felt some connection to the Gunflint trail as Martha was a canoe guide there in her youth, always trying to get back. When she started building Timberframes at the North House Folk school in the late 90s that is when we really started making friends in Grand Marais, but it was not until Eric took the job as full time Caretaker at Camp Menogyn that we moved our whole family up to Cook County in 2021. We love to build things, be outside, read, cook, and travel.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

We searched for houses in Cook County for 4 long years, trying to make every combination work, this location was perfect for us as we love that it is less than 5 minutes from town, but yet it allows us a certain amount of privacy. We are close to everything that we love to do now, classes at the Folk school, the Coop, the Y, the Crosby Bakery and also all of the outdoor adventures that we love: fishing, sailing, swimming in the big lake, hiking, biking, skiiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, canoeing, The bountiful and beautiful gardens, the garage and lots of light in the kitchen are things that we also love about being here.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

Being close to town but having your own garage is really amazing for packing things out for trips in the summer and having shelter from the snow in the winter. We are not fancy people, so you won't have themed rooms or matching kitchy "up north" decor. I try as hard as I can not to buy new furniture and cut down on waster whenever I can, so we prefer quality heirlooms or durable goods. You will see many handmade items from our fellow craftspeople at the Folk school in and around the home. We are very careful of ridding the house of toxic chemicals, use only eco friendly cleaning products, we are very picky about our high thread count cotton sheets and it will be super clean and cozy. We do hope that you feel right at home.
