Toad Hall near Wrigley
Summary:
I took a perfectly nice little flat on a beautiful street and filled it with great things...I want my guests to feel less like they are at an Airbnb and more like their 'very tidy but quirky friend' gave them keys to the flat for a weekend away.
The Space:
I believe in high standards of personal comfort, so you'll only find high thread count cotton sheets on the bed (usually a bit wrinkled, as I don't like you enough to iron them), comfortable feather pillows, great mattresses, and thick towels. The bath products are offer are from Public Goods and seem to be universally liked. We also supply a good amount of coffee and some other little amenities to really make you feel looked after.
My flat is up one flight of stairs, which will present a challenge to anyone with limited mobility. The shower has a full size bath tub and great water pressure. The kitchen is quite large (by Chicago standards) and the sleeping area includes a desk.
LOCATION
Although shops and restaurants are nearby, the area feels peaceful and secluded. The brown line train is about a 10 minute walk down Montrose avenue, with trains running into the heart of the city and easy transfers to the subway service. I am also immediately beside the Clark street bus, which goes down into the Wrigleyville area.
Within a three minute walk are some great takeaway food spots and a 7-11; the area centered around the Montrose CTA stop has three or four lovely spots to eat and a couple of great bears.
It is about a 20 minute walk down Clark street from the front door of the flat to Wrigley field.
EXCLUSIVE PERKS
During your stay as my guest, you receive a free membership to The Metropolitan, a members-only club and co-working space located on the 66th and 67th floors of the Willis Tower (for reservations <14 days only).
Included with your membership:
â Upscale co-working space, dining, and bars
â Stunning views of Chicago and Lake Michigan

PARKING
A parking spot isn't included. There's free street parking on our block and most residential blocks nearby except between 5-10pm on Cubs game nights and when there are special events at Wrigley Field. Be sure to move your car because the street will be a tow zone during those hours without a residential permit. Be sure to check all signs nearby when parking because it's easy to get a ticket when parking rules are broken.
I also highly recommend using service called SpotHero to reserve a spot nearby before you arrive.
FUN QUIRKS ABOUT THE FLAT
The boiler that provides heat and hot water for the whole building is located one floor below the flat, and some vibrations can carry into the unit at times as it works away. We've installed dampeners on the bed frame that help mitigate the effects quite a bit. It's one of the fun quirks of life in many of Chicago's vintage buildings!
Guest Access:
The entire flat is yours. If you smoke, I ask that you go off of the property (not outside of the back door).
