La maison Hummingbird est un grand, entiĂšrement meublĂ©, 3 chambres-2. Maison 5 salles de bain. Son design Ă©lĂ©gant et moderne comporte diffĂ©rents bois francs de Belize et un plan d'Ă©tage spacieux. L'entrĂ©e mĂšne Ă  un hall lumineux, une salle de bains et un grand patio couvert, une parabole parfaite Ă  l'ombre. Un escalier incurvĂ© vous emmĂšne dans le salon de l'Ă©tage oĂč vous bĂ©nĂ©ficiez de hauts plafonds et d'une grande vue sur l'ocĂ©an. Les murs intĂ©rieurs orientĂ©s vers l'ocĂ©an sont constituĂ©s de grands panneaux de verre coulissants et peuvent ĂȘtre ouverts pour Ă©tendre le salon Ă  l'extĂ©rieur et permettre une brise de refroidissement. Le balcon enveloppe la maison, offrant une vue imprenable sur les cocotiers luxuriants. La cuisine est entiĂšrement Ă©quipĂ©e et la salle Ă  manger et le salon sont meublĂ©s avec des portes, des fenĂȘtres, des meubles et des meubles locaux, artisanaux en bois. Our stay at this stunning waterfront home in Belize was absolutely unforgettable! Edwin and family were very sweet and attentive as needed. Great layout for the house and really enjoyed the large covered outdoor area. The outdoor shower off the master bedroom was thoroughly enjoyed after a long day on and in the water. For those wishing to kick back and relax, Hummingbird is a place you will enjoy just a very short boat ride from Placencia pier.

Magical Trip

This house was just as described. It was beautiful and felt like home! Having no AC was no issue at all. The breeze sweeps through the house and keeps it cool and there are fans in each room. The deck was great. We saw dolphins and manatees. We really enjoyed floating in the water right off the dock and watching the beautiful sun sets. Edwin was a great host but Jaden, his son, was pure magic. He showed us all kinds of sea creatures. Entertained us with stories and we loved every minute of his company. Edwin was always ready and willing to take us anywhere we needed on the boat and gave us great recommendations for excursions. Mael, his partner blessed us with some homemade fry jacks. I’m not sure our trip would have been as fun without Edwin and his beautiful family!WE WILL BE BACK! I urge everyone to give this beautiful property a try.

Great stay!

This was a great place! Tom was very responsive when I had a question. Edwin, the property manager, and his family were delightful and he always responded quickly when we needed a ride. The view from the upper deck was too perfect. It is a perfect place to unwind and relax. In fact we are coming back next year!

Wonderful and Relaxing

Place is beautiful and just as advertised, The pictures do not do it justice. I really don’t want to write a review cause we want the place for ourselves. Edwin the care take and boat transportation and family were very responsive and helpful and a great family. We could not have been happier with the house and rental. Tom the owner was responsive to questions. We will definitely be back. View is great. Its quite compared to town or a resort and just overall a very peaceful place. The deck is the shaded all day somewhere as it essentially wraps around the whole house.

Unique island property with beautiful design and gorgeous views

The property caretakers Edwin and Mayely were VERY accommodating as we were dependent on them for the short boat ride across the harbor each day. We enjoyed meeting their children as well. Mayely was fast to grab the luggage and load it herself no matter how much I pleaded to let me lift it. I tried to arrange our cross-water commutes to minimize impact on their own plans. The house is beautiful with great architectural features. If you appreciate quality woodwork, you'll spend time staring at the amazing doors, beams, stairs, trim and furniture. You'll catch many gorgeous sunsets from the huge front balcony, and the canal view is pleasant on the back balcony. The home is spacious with great amenities, and communication from the owner is fast. This was a great launch point for water tours as operators can pick you up at the front dock. Sitting on the dock, we saw an eagle ray, squid, jellyfish, starfish and other sea creatures. Things to be aware of: bugs were minimal for us, but bring repellant. There is no air conditioner, which was clear in the listing, but it can take time to acclimate to the climate. A great breeze flows through the main rooms when the large glass doors are open, but even with multiple fans it can be a bit uncomfortable at night. You cannot throw bathroom tissue in the commode due to a sensitive septic system. We complied, but one person in our party was never quite comfortable with that practice. There are two friendly dogs and a cat on the property.

Great time

No complaints about the hummingbird house — it’s a lovely home and Edwin and his family are great people. We had an excellent time and would recommend to anyone looking for a spot in placencia that feels a little separate from the busyness of town!

Perfect Paradise

The house is as advertised, large, spacious and beautiful. It is on Placencia Caye but the caretaker, Edwin, is always available to take you to the main pier. The house is fun with some quirky features like the outdoor shower off the master bedroom. All in all it’s terrific and we will stay here again.

Unique stay on water

Overall we had a great time and the host was very helpful. We had 6 adults. There were a few factors I would say would have been helpful to know. The secondary bath is very small and has a frameless shower that essentially pours water all over the bathroom and hall. This wasn’t the best situation for adults sharing, but would have been ok for small kids. The walls do not go up to the ceiling so privacy is not great for an adult group. You can hear anyone staying up if you try and go to sleep. The grill was broken so cooking was a bit difficult. Since there is no AC cooking inside was quite warm. The Isle itself is small and if you want to take a walk you cannot because you would be in the neighbors yard. You can paddle around in the water and relax on the patio. The caretakers dogs and son come out to see you whenever you relax on the deck so no privacy there either. Again, this is personal preference! Getting back and forth was mostly convenient. We had to cope with an incoming hurricane and ended up leaving early as they were concerned with what to do with us if there was a power or water issue. The owners did refund us the nights we did not stay which was appreciated as we had to book other hotel inland. The town has a few restaurants and small shops and bars with tropical drinks. We had some 20yos that needed more activity. Its a good house for reading and napping and enjoying the breeze. Definitely book a boat for some on water activity, snorkeling etc.

Better for short term stay vs long term

Communication with the owner was easy, and upon arrival using What's App to contact the caretaker Edwin was equally as easy. We were picked up 10 minutes after arriving at the pier, and check in was straight forward. Everything was explained to us, however, it was at this time when we enquired about the paddle boards, the snorkel gear, and the fishing gear that are listed in the online description, and we were informed that none of that was actually available. There were 2, 2 person kayaks and a single paddle board, all of which, including the paddles were in very used condition. There are 3 dogs and a cat living outside on the property, which was not mentioned in the listing. There were a few occasions where 2 of the dogs would get aggressive with each other when they were around us while we were trying to enjoy being out on the dock. This made several people in our group quite uncomfortable, as they are pitfall type dogs. They would also bark at all hours of the night and day. The house was pretty much as pictured and described in the listing, and the views and location are nice. Being on a very small island, it can feel restrictive if you are staying for longer than a few days, as there is nowhere you can go for a walk if you just want to get outside. We had a few issues with our stay, but Thomas the owner dealt with them satisfactorily.

Absolutely Wonderful Vacation!

This was our first time to Belize. We feel so lucky to have chosen Placencia, and more specifically, the Hummingbird House, as our destination. The house is amazing and as amazing as described. So relaxing and beautiful! The caretaker (Edwin) and his family made this an even more amazing experience for us! He is kind, responsive, positive, knowledgeable, and went beyond the call of duty to make this a great experience for all. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about them, the Hummingbird House, and the activities Edwin recommended!

Nothing Ho-hum About Hummingbird House

From the moment we were greeted at the municipal pier by Edwin & his wife, until we said our goodbyes, our entire stay was wonderful! The house is gorgeous with huge, expansive views, both front and back, of water, boats, and the village. We loved floating, swimming, and paddleboarding off the dock, where we saw tons of ocean life! The entire stay was like a dream, and Edwin & family helped us in every way to enjoy our stay in Placencia.

What a gem! Amazing everything!

We traveled for 7 weeks starting from Cancun and followed the coast line down to Placencia. Found this gem for our last week. 3 couples recently retired shared this amazing home (we all worked together for 25 years and retired together). We’ve been busy for the previous weeks so this was our relax and enjoy time. Being on this island was a retreat. Plenty to keep us busy with the swimming, kayaks and paddle boards. Just hangin out on the dock in the hammock was legit. The caretaker Edwin and family were amazing!! Always there to get you to the mainland anytime. Open spaces and lots of room for each of us to have our own space or to gather together. We made several dinners there and watched the sunsets every night. Always had a shaded area when needed and we all really enjoyed this home. Lots to do on the mainland too. Whatever you are into they seem to have. Night life wasn’t our thing but during the day, we visited many local restaurants and bars to take in to local vibe. The people there are very friendly and worth having conversations with.

Amazing!!

We stayed at Hummingbird House for 10 days. The property is meticulously maintained; Edwin and his family are so accommodating and wonderful; sunrises and sunsets are incredible; tour guides picked us up at the house and delivered us back afterward; Edwin had great recommendations for tours and restaurants. It was overall a wonderful trip!!!

Spacious and peaceful home on the water

We had a very relaxing week in Placencia at the house. Tons of room to relax, lots of seating and sofas to lounge around in, and a very large outdoor terrace to watch over the bay. Edwin was friendly and responsive (pro tip: tap into his local network for excursions) and despite being on an island, it really was no trouble to go to/from the town. [The wifi isn't very fast (I measured 5-6 Mbps downstream) though the cell service is good. But then, you don't go to Placencia to stare at screens, right?]

Amazing stay

My husband and I stayed here for about a week. The property is exactly as described. Beautiful views and amazing property. Edwin was super helpful and great to have bringing us back and forth from the island.

My family absolutely loved this property. The kids first thing upon arriving was to video the whole house and brag about how cool it was. We enjoyed our time at Hummingbird house so much. The breezes thru the house made the stay breathtaking. Especially since we have been used to ac and the house didnt have it. But it didnt matter because the breeze was perfect.

Fantastic setting, Edwin and family were great hosts and always available, even cooked the fish we bought from the fisherman stand in Placencia. Kids loved the dogs and cats. Placencia is full of good restaurants, the daily boat trip to the village makes the day enjoyable, did a few trips - Silk Caye, Mayan World of adventures. Wish we could have stayed longer!
