Great location and a really lovely property with beautiful views right on the river. We truly enjoyed the setting and the house itself. That said, cleanliness definitely needs more attention. Several of the dishes had to be re-washed before we felt comfortable using them, and there was visible mildew around the bathtub, in the grout/cracks, and around some of the sinks. The basement, where several of the bedrooms are located, also felt quite damp and would probably benefit from a dehumidifier. We really liked the house and would otherwise highly recommend the location, but the cleanliness issues were disappointing and took away from what could have been an excellent stay. With some additional attention to cleaning and moisture control, this would be a fantastic place.

Great Getaway to the North Woods

Great last minute get away before kids head back to school. The house is everything you would expect from a north woods cabin and more. The place is rustic but very clean and the grounds are well maintained. Linens were new and the beds were super comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need including an electric griddle. Coffee maker could use an update but was sufficient to make a pot. Not a host issue but be sure to know before you go that cell/internet is hit or miss in the area, our teen boys barely survived! Use of the kayaks was an added bonus and saved us from hauling a boat for the weekend. The spiral stairs could be troublesome for those with mobility issues but an easy walkaround to the screened in porch to enter if needed. Plenty of wildlife around and great river fishing just off the pier. Neighbors were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Fire pit was great and they even have wood available for sale on property for a small charge. Overall the place is very secluded and peaceful yet close to town and the amenities of the area. Early check in was available through Vacasa but we unfortunately missed the 10am checkout time. The owner stopped by and let us know but was very understanding that we lost track of time and thought it was 11 am checkout. Would definitely recommend this rental and would stay again. JM

It's quiet, but not quite ready for prime time

A lovely house, secluded in the woods, dead quiet around it. However they have no Wi-Fi and there is no cellular service! No before you go! The house itself is nice, the furnishings are all older. For this price point I would expect to have Wi-Fi provided, and to have the house finished. There's missing trim and poor workmanship all over the place. The kitchen is full of plenty of dishes, but the appliances are all old. They did not have any of the little things like salt, pepper, or cooking oil. They had a great bed in the main bedroom, but their carpeting was unfinished and there were a handful of spiders, hairballs, and dust bunnies around. Also be aware that the river behind it is a tiny creek, with a couple of miles of no wake zone before you are able to get to the main lake. Figure it'll take at least 15 minutes to ride through it I think we'd come back again, but at $300 per night for a two bedroom, given the lack of amenities, I don't think we'd pay this price again. If they bring in wi-fi? That might be a good start.
