The Space:

Some Sebastopol stays put you in the middle of the action — The Gravenstein tucks you into the quiet instead. Set on a country lane south of town, this newly renovated single-story home sits under mature redwoods with its own fruit trees, a working greenhouse, and nothing on the evening agenda but the hot tub and the fire pit.



Inside, vaulted open-beam ceilings and a brick fireplace anchor the great room, where hardwood floors run underfoot and glass doors frame the green of the backyard. The renovation carried high-end fixtures and finishes through the whole house, and lets you come together and relax from the first pour of the evening.



The galley kitchen pairs quartz counters with a glowing mosaic backsplash and stainless appliances, and a dedicated beverage station adds a built-in wine rack and a glass-front drinks fridge. Snip basil and pick tomatoes from the greenhouse for dinner, or pull lemons and limes from the trees for patio cocktails. Serve at the dining table under the drum pendant, or claim the sunny breakfast nook for slow mornings.



Then there's the game room: the garage, fully converted with new hardwood floors, a brand-new pool table, a custom bar with a mini fridge, and a wall-mounted TV. Roll up the garage door on warm evenings and let the tournament spill out toward the driveway.



OUTDOOR LIVING

Out back, a brand-new 7-by-7-foot hot tub — the largest the owner could find — steams at the edge of a fenced lawn. Adirondack chairs circle the stone fire pit, with plenty of firewood stacked for s'mores nights under the redwoods. Flagstone and brick patios link the house to the yard, with umbrella-shaded dining, a barbecue grill, a chaise for afternoon reading, and a hammock in the shade. In harvest season you're welcome to pick a reasonable share of apricots, peaches, cherries, plums, and apples from the orchard — please leave some for the guests after you.



SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS

Two bedrooms plus a den sleep up to 6:

- Bedroom 1: King bed (primary suite with patio doors, walk-in closet, and TV)

- Bedroom 2: Queen bed

- Den: Sofa bed with sitting area and TV

Linens, towels, and a pack-'n-play are provided. Two full baths — one with a built-in soaking tub and double vanity, one with a glass walk-in shower.

The Gravenstein takes its name from Sebastopol's hometown apple — celebrated every August at the Gravenstein Apple Fair in Ragle Ranch Regional Park, where you'll also find a dog park and a 1.4-mile loop trail through oaks and meadows. The home sits on a quiet lane south of town, about 10 minutes from downtown and The Barlow, Sebastopol's 12-acre marketplace of tasting rooms (Kosta Browne, Pax Wines, Region), breweries, Spirit Works Distillery, restaurants, and shops. Around town, don't miss Michelin-recognized Ramen Gaijin and Khom Loi, sustainable seafood at Handline, and a cone at Screamin' Mimi's. The boutique Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producers of the Sebastopol Hills — Dutton-Goldfield, Merry Edwards, Lynmar Estate — pour 10-20 minutes away, and Patrick Amiot's whimsical junk-art sculptures line Florence Avenue for a free afternoon stroll. Bike the Joe Rodota Trail toward Santa Rosa, watch herons at the Laguna de Santa Rosa wetlands, or day-trip to the Russian River and Armstrong Redwoods (about 30 minutes) or the Sonoma Coast at Bodega Bay (about 35 minutes).



Getting Around:

Sebastopol is about 60 miles from San Francisco — roughly 1 hour 15 minutes via Highway 101. You'll want a car here: the home sits on a country lane a few minutes south of downtown, with private driveway parking on site. Once you're in town, downtown Sebastopol and The Barlow are compact and walkable, and the Joe Rodota Trail offers a car-free cycling route toward Santa Rosa.

• The Gravenstein is a quiet, newly renovated country home — best for guests who want serenity around the fire pit rather than nightlife out the door (The Barlow's tasting rooms are about 10 minutes away when you want them).

• During harvest season you're welcome to pick fruit from the orchard and herbs or tomatoes from the greenhouse within reason — please leave a share for the guests after you.

• Firewood for the fire pit is provided.

• One dog is welcome; please keep it leashed on nearby trails.

• Stays are capped at 21 nights.

• Summer mornings can start cool under the coastal fog before clearing — the hot tub doesn't mind either way.
