We loved being located so close to downtown Asheville. The house was large and accommodated our group beautifully. The beds were very comfortable, and the bedrooms had reading lamps, electrical outlets, and plenty of space for storeage, besides being lovely. The kitchen was a real standout: a great assortment of pots and pans, serving dishes, good knives, two separate ovens, and a great gas range. We especially loved that this house is wheelchair accessible, with portable ramps for two small steps, and had a high chair and a portable baby bed. It met all our needs!
The house is absolutely lovely and was the perfect gathering place for my large family. We had plenty of space to both collect together and to also have space to break up into smaller groups. The kitchen had all of our cooking needs covered, including a smaller fridge to keep drinks. The house was close to Asheville to be able to go do things but also quiet and isolated so that we could relax. Would absolutely stay here again with a group fo friends or family!
Well-maintained, well-equipped, sprawling house with an excellent cleaning team. Although surrounded by nature (I.e., bears, birds and butterflies) and stunning views from the home, Asheville restaurants and activities were but a short drive away. The hot tub was a hit and was perfectly maintained. The artwork was a plus--eclectic and interesting. Our host was responsive to our concerns. Our family group of 12 had a wonderful time.
The house was roomy and comfortable for 16 people. There was plenty of room to be together or have some alone time. The kitchen was nicely appointed for making large family meals. It was very convenient to downtown. The only downside was the hot tub was not available through some unforeseen circumstances but the owner was very responsive and gave me a credit. I would love to stay here again and recommend it highly.
This house was amazing - big, clean, and in the perfect location to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway or downtown Asheville. Amazing views from the deck too. Would absolutely stay here again!
Lovely place nestled in the hills near Asheville. Really enjoyed the stay, close to breweries, hiking and the proximity to grocery stores, etc made it an easy place to be. Enjoyed a ton!
My friends and I stayed here for a long weekend and the house is wonderful. It's 5 minutes from town and sits on tops of the mountain with a beautiful view!
I have lived in San Francisco since 1986 but have been splitting my time between there and Asheville, where my parents and two siblings live, for 20 years. I love the arts scene in Asheville, and there is so much to do outdoors! I am the co-founder the AIDS Memorial Quilt, which started on my back porch in 1987. (Younger people have no clue what this is, but a Google search should help...) I've been running AIDS or LGBT organizations my whole adult life and enjoy the community-building aspect of what I do. After 13 years, I recently stepped down as executive director of AIDS Emergency Fund and Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, two related non-profits that help low income people pay their basic living costs while disabled or going through surgery, chemo or radiation. Asheville has always been my escape space and un-stressing zone. I know it will be yours, too! Whether itâs a gallery opening, dinner with extended family, or just watching the Fall foliage, I know I can leave the rat race behind here.
There is something magical about life in a forest, watching the season change from every window -- on 4 acres, out of sight of neighbors, but SO close to town. I fell in love with the long-range views, the fireplace, and the quick access to everything. Although I spend most of the year in San Francisco, I am here about three months of the year. It would be a shame for a big house like this to sit empty, so I am sharing it with you. I've downsized a bit in San Francisco, and have sent most of my big art pieces to this house, including many pieces from local Asheville artists, that I have acquired over the years. This in my retreat house, with the birds in the trees (and at the feeder) and the sound of the wind. Art galleries in town and the working artists' studios of the River Arts District are my daily hunting grounds when I am here. But the quick drive back up the mountain to the house nourishes my soul.
I love the seclusion, the access to town, the modern conveniences of a newer house, the soaring cathedral ceilings, having all my art accessible around me, and sharing it with new friends.
