This house is in a great location, but has some maintenance and house keeping issues that I communicated privately with Meredith booking. I hope that they take care of the problems as they have been brought up before in reviews. We ( multi-generational) family trip had a great time. Easy beach access, hot tub was wonderful and the ping pong table was a huge hit!!

The home was clean and all listed amenities were available; however, there were several issues that impacted our experience.First, the BBQ was inoperable due to completely rusted-out burners. Second, the hot tub was in poor condition; the water was very cloudy, and the tub overflowed with foam when the jets were turned on, suggesting a lack of proper chemical balance. It would also have been helpful to have access to a broom and basic cleaning tools for use during our stay. Finally, the blinds throughout the house were either ripped or broken, making them difficult to operate.

House is large & well decorated. Short walk to the beach with only a little bit on the busy road. Have rented with Meredith Lodging many times before and they were responsive to my concerns upon check in. As other reviews have pointed out (since 2019 it seems), the window coverings in the upstairs bedroom are garbage. They’re split in multiple places, don’t work, etc. I understand that we paid premium pricing due to Labor Day weekend but that made it more disappointing, especially since this has been a concern of others for years. It was indicated in responses to other reviews that it would be “addressed with the maintenance staff” but it clearly has not. There were also a few lightbulbs out (no biggie) and the deck off the kitchen where the BBQ is has at least one rotten board with a hole in it. This would be a safety issue for small kids and pets. We elected not to use that deck due to the condition. Kitchen well stocked, drip coffee and a Kureig. Zero cleaning supplies, no napkins, tin foil, ziplocks. I know those are not guarantees but it’s nice to know so you can bring your own. Overall, a decent place when not holiday rates. Will rent via Meredith again, but would not stay at this particular property again. Hot tub was clean and the game room in the detached garage was cute. When it’s 1000 for 2 nights, I expected a little more attention to detail is all.

Great for family

Lots of activities for all ages. The hot tub, the ping pong, the foosball and all the games and puzzles and movies and books, and that's just at the house. The beach is just a short walk and the casino and lots of stores are right down the road.

Beautiful home!

The house was perfect, beautiful and equipped with all one or a group needs. I absolutely love the decor. It was in walking distance from the beach and we had the privilege to be “visited” by a heard of deers, which made all even better. We had a great stay, thank you.

Relaxing at The Mermaid

Overall, we had a very nice, relaxing stay. We saw deer every day! One minor issue was the 16 stairs to go up and down in the house. It might be wise to add that to the description so if you are including the elderly in your stay, a formidable decision can be made.

Amazing House

We enjoyed the house very much, it was but a short walk to the Roads End State Park. The hot tub is a large one and a great hit. Sitting on the deck, listening to the waves wer a fav of ours.

Great property

The house is close to Road's End State Park and has several hiking trails within walkable distance. The set-up is great and several of us used the hot tub. One note - road noise is not great for the two bedrooms closest to the road (especially on Friday and Saturday nights).

Relaxing Family Time

The property was well appointed and conveniently equipped. The grounds were well maintained and groomed. The smoke alarm was very sensitive to the use of the oven and dry food storage was limited but overall we had a great experience! The Mermaid is very close to the beach and great shopping! We definitely recommend the Mermaid!

Family trip to remember

We had a great time. Very roomy and clean. Plenary of room to spread out (we had 3 couples and two kids 7,9). Easy access to beach. Regular visits from neighboring deer! Only comments- wish there was more hooks for wet towels. Also the fire alarm was very sensitive- we had to open all windows and patio door and run a fan. Despite that we were comfortable and we had a great time.

Dont let your dogs out at night

The house was perfect! My code for the door never worked which was frustrating. I took my dog out at night and she was attacked by a raccoon. I dont want anyone elses dog to get hurt so im making this aware to future guests.

The Mermaid House

The property was well maintained and clean. A 5 minute walk to the beach. The only downsides: the road is busy so have to be alert when walking to the beach. The hot tub was set higher than we like and didn't allow for a range to adjust it down if your staying for several days. Not the problem with the place but Monday garbage pick up is early (5:15am early). It is a lovely home with all the conveniences.

Everything was fine until I found an extremely dirty pair of socks and a disgusting hair brush on the window sill in the downstairs bedroom closest to the back door. There were no strings to raise the window shade so that was probably why they were missed.

There is a chair in the living room that is supposed to be light blue but is brown all over the place because of how dirty it is and the leather couches also needed a very good wipe down

Get Away

SUPER sensitive smoke detectors. Took nothing at all cooking on the stove to set off the WHOLE house. Woke everyone up. Exhaust fan was on. NO smoke at all. Had to open all windows and doors to get them to quit. Happened EVERY time we used the stove.

House needs attention

This house needs a major cleaning and renovation. The downstairs smells of dog urine. All of the blinds need fixed or replace, very dirty. The hardwood floors upstairs are completely worn. Walls are very damaged and many areas are dirty. The shower curtain downstairs had brown marks on it. I could go on and on, but basically this house needs attention. The property management company was very responsive and relocated us.
