Our Stay in Port Macquarie

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Positives:Location: sea views, could hear ocean; easy walk to city, beach, coffee; quiet at nightApartment: lots of space; ok appliances; good hot water for showers; large, nice balcony with sunny aspectService:Faulty kitchen lighting repaired promptly (thanks to electrician Cameron)The NegativesOn arrival: agent was officious; handed us 2 large wads of unmarked keys and next to no instructions (took us 20 minutes to figure out how to get in which you don’t need after a long drive)Parking: on-site undercover secure parking small with very tight access (we could not use it so had to park at rear of property)Apartment: old and a bit tired; on arrival half kitchen lights not working and one other hanging by wires (dangerous) - this should have been noticed in property preparation; oven trays, hot-plate exhaust very dirty; obvious signs of previous tenant having a pet inside (yuk); all linen old, and cheap, bleach marks; all lights very dull due to cheap low wattage bulbs; only 2 dessert spoons!Amenities: ancient washing machine, can’t open lid fully; did a load of washing - very hard on clothes and some came out with bleach marks! (we didn’t use any bleach); TV - no streaming (ie no internet access)Checkout: impersonal; no engagement; no thanks

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Heaps of space for the family, close to amenities like the beach, however main bedroom was the only one with a ceiling fan. The other bedrooms could have done with at least a pedalstal fan to circulate the air around. The smaller fans were good but not strong enough to circulate the air when extremely hot, especially if there was no sea breeze.

Reviewer Comments: This property has a very good location, has great street parking, has lovely views, has a good spacious floor plan including two bathrooms and deck, has good lift access, is very secure, and is in fairly good condition. However, there were a few things that made it a bit less comfortable than we hoped. No curtains in bedrooms made it hard to block out light especially as it was hot humid weather and with the windows open the vertical blinds flapped. The old ceiling fans were noisy and with no air conditioning in humid wet weather it was a bit musty. The large cleaning fee seemed excessive: the linen and pillows seemed a bit old and the floors although OK are in need of a good professional clean. The garage was difficult to use: we found it almost impossible to get our small car into the allotted car space and decided not to use it.

The apartment was super spacious with a fantastic view over the water, unfortunately it rained most of our days so it was obscured on those days. The kitchen had everything required to cook a meal, although a couple of the frying pans need replacing. Access to the apartment was challenging with several keys to work out (this should have been explained by the agent). We were eventually helped by an apartment owner! A garage is available but very narrow and difficult to enter and exit. Plenty of street parking so this was not a problem for us. Will stay again next time if it’s available.
