Beautiful setting, but serious bedroom and bathroom privacy limitationsHawks Haven Wine Cottage enjoys a peaceful location with beautiful valley views, comfortable common areas, a well-stocked kitchen and friendly hosts.Unfortunately, our three-night stay was materially compromised by an unusual architectural feature inadequately explained in the property's written description.Although advertised as a two-bedroom cottage "ideal for two couples," the primary bedroom walls do NOT extend to the ceiling, leaving the bedroom acoustically open to the living room. Even more surprisingly, the primary bathroom has the same open-wall configuration.Consequently, conversations, television sounds and even primary bathroom noises carried freely between these supposedly separate spaces. My wife felt uncomfortable simply using the bathroom, while others could neither converse normally nor watch television once we retired.Although portions of this configuration appear in a few of the listing's 38 photographs, pictures cannot convey the actual loss of acoustic privacy, which became apparent only upon occupying the cottage. The primary bedroom also lacked dedicated heating/cooling, apart from a table fan.Had these substantial limitations been clearly disclosed, we most certainly would NOT have booked this property, at least not for two couples wanting some degree of privacy. Future guests, particularly two couples, should be fully aware of them before booking.
