Grande maison de campagne pour 14 personnes et chalet Steading 6, 20 personnes combinées.

Une magnifique maison de campagne construite en 1806, cet ancien manoir, et jusqu'à sa mort, abrite Frances Shand Kydd, mère de Diana, princesse de Galles. C'est un magnifique bâtiment géorgien, magnifiquement modernisé tout en conservant le charme du vieux monde. 6 chambres confortables avec 5 salles de bain, il y a de la place pour 12 adultes et 2 enfants. Avec un salon avec feu ouvert et double aspect, une salle de télévision avec 40 "tv et TNT et dvds, une salle à manger / cuisine spacieuse avec AGA, une véranda lumineuse et aérée et une salle à manger formelle pour 12 personnes, il y a amplement d'espace pour les familles. Chauffage central, feu ouvert et AGA, ainsi que des couvertures électriques sur tous les lits assurent un séjour chaleureux, quel que soit le temps. La maison se trouve dans un acre de jardin clos et entourée de centaines d'hectares de pâturages. Il y a une terrasse avec barbecue, un jardin avec trampoline et balançoires, et nous avons un locataire de bain à remous local qui fournira un bain à remous pour la durée de votre séjour. Veuillez me faire part de vos besoins. À 30 minutes de plus de 50 terrains de golf, dont Gleneagles et St Andrews, nous sommes bien situés pour les golfeurs. Édimbourg, Perth, St Andrews et Dundee sont tous à moins de 40 minutes, et les trains desservent Markinch, à 10 minutes.
Le Steading a été construit en 1809 et converti en 1992 et est actuellement en cours de rénovation pour le mettre à jour.
Le Steading est disponible pour fournir un hébergement supplémentaire pour 6 personnes, avec une grande chambre double avec un lit super king-size et une salle de bains privative avec douche, un lit double et un jumeau avec des lits superposés. Il y a une autre salle de bains familiale avec une grande douche à l'italienne. La cuisine salle à manger est lumineuse et bien équipée et a accès au jardin plein sud, et il y a un grand salon spacieux avec des portes françaises à l'est et au nord. Couchage jusqu'à six personnes, combinée avec Ladywell House qui peut accueillir 14 personnes, les deux propriétés conviennent à 20 lorsqu'elles sont louées ensemble.

I've cooked Christmas dinner for 18 in it, but I guess it just takes some getting used to! Each time I entered I was 'let in' on knocking, but apologies if my bringing an extra chair for your party interrupted you. The property was lovely and worked very well for our group of 15. Duncan was an accommodating host who set up an extra bed in the TV room, which was greatly appreciated. We very much enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home and loved the proximity to the village.One thing that made our stay difficult was the extensive cleaning requirements upon departure as well as the strong focus on sorting the garbage and recycling perfectly. This added stress to what was supposed to be a relaxing family time. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Hi Devon and many thanks for coming to stay. We are sorry that stripping the beds and a quick wipe around were difficult for you as you had to leave at 0800hrs for a flight home. We sent Terms of Letting and Arrival Times and Procedures 10 days prior to your arrival and offered housekeeping daily, every second day, 3 times a week etc. so that you weren't rushed when leaving. If you had requested this service then we would have happily supplied it. Regarding recycling. We asked you to disseminate the information on the kitchen table which explained which bin was for tins and plastic, cardboard and paper, and for non-recyclable rubbish. Our bin collectors will not empty the bins if the rubbish is not in the correct bin. I spent an hour sorting the rubbish into the appropriate bin....yuk! I do apologise if the Terms of Letting and information on the kitchen table were unclear. We loved having your party here and do hope that you will come back to stay again. Kind regards Duncan

Relaxing in Ladywell

Ladywell was a lovely spacious, warm and comfy house for our group’s weekend stay. The period furnishings and historical references added lots of interest. It was great to be able to walk to Falkland and potter round this pretty village and further beyond .

This is a superb property! Close to the delightful village of Falkland. Plenty of room for our party of 10 in Scotland for a family reunion. Duncan our host was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

I booked the house for a family party. The house is definitely a party house. We had the most fabulous time. There was 11 staying and on party day there was 19. Plenty of room for us all. The garden is big and well kept and some fun was had outside too. Duncan was a very personable host and was on hand to help. A couple of niggles were the Wi-Fi which we could not get to work. Duncan did try to sort it but couldn’t. The other is the the bin situation. For such a large party there was a lot of recycling- the bins were full. We brought a few black bags home with us. All in all I would highly recommend the house. We did walk into Falkland, very quaint and busy with tourists - as we were. Thank you Duncan.

Fantastic property

Ladywell house was ideal for our 4 day getaway. Loved the spacious rooms and high ceilings. The property is full of history too which makes the stay even more special. Duncan’s a very friendly owner and is extremely responsive throughout the process. The location is fantastic - it’s on the outskirts of Falkland village so very tranquil yet within walking distance to the village. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning soon!

Beautiful House in an Equally Beautiful Setting

My friends and I have just returned from a weekend at this Beautiful House that is within walking distance to places to eat/drink we ate at the Stag Inn and the Covenanter Hotel whose food and service were second to none. Hi and many thanks for your review. The showers are 80 x 80 and are not very large, but fairly standard. If it were possible to replace with large ones then we would probably replace. The king bed in Diana is 5 years old and used about 200 nights a year, the Sealy Orthopedic mattresses that we use are top quality and medium firm. We usually replace mattresses every 8 years in line with recommendations, but will check the one in Diana when I am in next week. Thanks so much for your feedback. Great house in a great location

The property was perfect for a family celebration. Plenty of room for people to have their own space if required. Private chef "Nelson" from Italba-dining.com provided a superb menu and meal for the Saturday evening. Ladywell House is a large elegant house with a large dog friendly garden and tremendous views. Located just on the outskirts of Falkland which is full of charm and character with plenty to see as well as lovely walks. Duncan made everyone very welcome and was on hand if required.

What a beautiful house with so much history! This 3 story house has lots of stairs, 6 spacious bedrooms, 5 bathrooms (3 with standing showers). The 3rd floor bedrooms can get warm in the summer time. Halfway up the first flight of stairs is a bathroom. The kitchen stove was a novelty for us, always hit and ready (a little hard to judge the timing for baking). A washing machine but hang drying all your cloths. And such a relaxing place inside or out enjoy your time. My neice took a couple of pictures here for her graduation photos, and they turned out so perdectly! There was also a glass room that gave us a beautiful view of the sunsets! We just loved the house! The host, Duncan, was close by, and ready to help us when we needed it.And the village of Falkland was really amazing! We loved the Lomond Tearoom and Chocolate shop! Also, the lady at Balgonie Kilts was so friendly and helpful! The Maspie Den hike was very relaxing and great for all ages! You can even purchase stamps for postcards at the store on the main street, and mail them there. We are very happy with our experiences here at Ladywell, and will treasure them always.

Beautiful and comfortable

We had a wonderful four night stay in such a beautiful home. As a group of what should have been 11, but two cancelled at short notice, it was a delight to find somewhere to accommodate all of us in such comfort and with ample bathroom facilities. A grand salon accommodated everyone in the evening, and there are other places to tuck away when wanted. I thoroughly enjoyed the en suite bath in the Shand Kydd room. Plenty of cutlery, china and cooking utensils, although the quiche chef had to use a wine bottle in place of a rolling pin. A resounding cheer from us all for Ladywell House.

90th birthday celebration attended by 4 generations

Ladywell House is a large house full of character, well furnished and exceptionally equiped for a large gathering. We really enjoyed the lovely furnished drawing room in the evenings and spent lots of time in the conservatory and kitchen (the AGA was a huge hit) and the large gardens were great for our dogs. The stairs were a bit of a challenge for our older family members but that was to be expected. We loved visited old haunts in the village, the house is just a 15 minute stroll from the centre. There was a bit of confusion initially about the listing for The Steading and it looked like a hot tub was included.in the booking but that was quickly cleared up by Duncan through correspondence. We booked the latter through fifehottub hire, who were very efficient.The owner Duncan lives in the adjacent house and was always helpful, welcoming and available if any questions arose. It was mentioned by family that a second vacuum cleaner may be useful as it is a large house to clean on the final morning with the one provided, especially if you have had dogs with you.The older generations were very impressed with the history of the house and it added a touch of uniqueness to the experience.

Accommodation, location and communication work the owner, ` par excellence'

From the time of booking two years ago, until the end of our 3 nights stay, the owner Duncan could not have been more helpful, considerate and supportive. Our thanks to him for a wonderful stay! My family and I were attending a wedding in Cupar , so we chose Ladywell House for its location, size and amenities and were not disappointed!. It is quite simply awesome. The property has 6 double +1 bedrooms, 3 en suite shower rooms, and 2 beautifully presented separate bathrooms as well as a large dining room and two sitting rooms/ tv / lounges. The house is impressively spacious, comfortable and has great historic interest. There is a lovely conservatory where one can dine together or simply enjoy morning coffee overlooking the garden and beautiful scenery beyond. The enclosed, very private, walled garden is beautifully maintained with mature trees and flower borders. There is also a large outdoor patio dining/ seating area which we thoroughly enjoyed given the fine weather!. As we also had small dogs with us, the large lawn and privacy that the walled garden afforded was particularly welcomed. There are some beautiful walks nearby... not least Falkland Estate, a 4 min drive from Ladywell House; so it is perfectly positioned for those who love Country walks with their dogs . For those who are considering booking with their dogs there is a large kitchen/ utility and separate boot room, as well as the conservatory, so space for pets is more than adequate and our 4 were very content. Although we chose not to allow our dogs into the sitting / dining rooms, this is not prohibited per say... but, allowing pets on any chairs / couches downstairs is, and no pets are permitted upstairs. This is perfectly understandable and acceptable, given the quantity and quality of antique furniture and chairs. I realise I have waxed long with this review but I wanted to do justice to this amazing house! We all just loved it. Thank you again Duncan......we will be back!

Lovely home in a lovely setting!

Duncan's home, Ladywell, was even more wonderful than we had expected -- immaculate, well-appointed, comfortable, inviting, spacious, and simply lovely! We are an extended family of 14, and there were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate us all. The bedding and bath towels were luxurious. The kitchen was well-equipped, and we loved learning how to cook on the AGA, although it was nice to have a second cook top for more variable cooking. Having 2 refrigerators in the kitchen was very helpful, and having two washers to do laundry for so many of us was a bonus. We loved the hang-drying arrangement in the external laundry room. We spent most of our time in the kitchen and the sunny solarium, as we gathered together for snacks and meals. The yard was beautifully landscaped, and the soft, well-manicured lawn was great to play games on. It helped that we had spectacular weather for most of the week! The setting was perfect, beautifully perched up on the hill with a view of the fields and hills beyond and the sheep and cattle farm above. The special town of Falkland was an easy 10-minute walk away, and Duncan even made sure the grass was mowed all along the main road for pedestrian use. Don't miss exploring Falkland and walking through the town to the hiking trail for East Lomond Hill. It is a spectacular and steep hike but well worth the work when you get to the top! (Some of us did it twice!) Also don't miss Falkland Palace, and give yourself several hours, as the docent in each room has a wealth of history and information, and the gardens behind are expansive and glorious. The geographic location is exceptional -- only a 45-minute drive from Edinburgh, and an easy day trip to many destinations, including St. Andrews, Dunnottar Castle and Stonehaven, Doune Castle, Dunblane, Loch Lomond, Kelso, Stirling Castle, Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies, and much more! Duncan's written house instructions were very detailed and helpful, and he was very responsive to any questions we had. I would love to return to Ladywell if our family decides to gather in Scotland again! Thanks for a wonderful holiday, Duncan!

Familientreffen in Schottland

Wir treffen uns als Familie aus CH, NL und D regelmäßig, diesmal zum Wandern Fife Coastal Path. Dafür war Ladywell House ideal und perfekt! Tolles Ambiente, super Lage, perfekte Ausstattung und ein wunderbarer Garten. Für diese Qualitäten tolles Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Dazu ist dieses Haus etwas wirklich Besonderes, das, was das Treffen perfekt umrahmt. Danke!
