Beautifully finished, relaxing location

One of the most comfortable and beautifully finished properties we have had the pleasure to stay in. Emmanuel made us feel very welcome, bottle of wine on the terrace made for a perfect start to our stay in the Dordogne. Montfort is a lovely quiet location with views of the castle adding to the overall ambience. Can't recommend this property highly enough. A real home from home.

Fantastic property and location

Stayed for 12 nights in this beautiful property. 4 adults and 1 dog. Stephanie showed us how everything worked when we arrived and provided extra towels for our friends. This is a large property full of character but with all modern amenities. The outside terrace is fully enclosed so ideal for a dog. The village of Montfort has a bakery for morning bread, croissants and delicious pastries. We would highly recommend staying here and will be back.

not quite as advertised

The location is very nice and the property is charming but misses some basics. We stayed over a month and were told there was no housekeeping eventhough the dailt rate is the same as for very short stays. The lights above the mirrors in the bathrooms are picture lights resulting in many shaving cuts. No closet space and no place to hang towels in the bathroom. The outdoor umbrellas were falling apart and the outdoor seating is not very comfy. The reviews raved about the owner’s friendliness but our reception was very cold.

Wonderful holiday in Sarlat

Sometimes the apartment for rent that you see on the internet is not what it looks like when you arrive at the door step. But "La Bise" is even nicer than on the photos. It is the kind of home you would wish for yourself. This beautiful 15th Century home has been totally renovated. But the owner has been most careful to keep the beautiful details of the time. We are very grateful that Emmanuel, the owner, is willing to share this unique place which has all that you need no matter how long your stay. We found that it is close to all the surrounding beautiful medieval towns that you want to explore. You feel as though you are a part of history. Emmanuel was easy to contact and very pleasant from the beginning of our correspondence to the end of our stay. It was lovely to find a bottle of wine on the coffee table at our arrival. We loved visiting Beynac, La Roque-Gajeac, Domme which are just a few miles from the residence. We enjoyed visiting Le Chateau des Milandes, where Josephine Baker lived. Le Chateau de Beynac gave us the flavor of what it was like to live in a medieval castle. Our favorite restaurant was "l'Etoile" in la Roque-Gajeac. But we enjoyed eating family style at a restaurant down the road called Pech Le Malet where the proprietors are most friendly and the food is plentiful and very good. We definitely would recommend this property for a great vacation but I must admit that we begrudgedly do so as we would like to keep it all to ourselves.

Idyllic

Great house. I stayed there with my three teenage kids and set up was perfect for us. The house itself exceeded our expectations and was very relaxing. We'll be going back - thoroughly recommend it. Emmanuel is a super host - enthusiastically meeting us on arrival and making sure we settled in. The house is in the small village of Montfort - lives up to it's reputation as one of the prettiest small villages in France. Breathtaking setting and lovely for a wander around (the chateau itself is privately owned and note open to the public) With three restaurants and a small boulangerie / patisserie on your doorstep this is well set up for not having to do any major shopping. That said Sarlat is only 10 minutes away and is great for sightseeing (and there's a supermarket on the way home to stock up). We had other family staying nearby so we had to make sure we booked for the restaurants - well worth trying the two in the village early in your stay - you'll likely want to go back!! We used Bise as a base for spending quite a bit of time on the river - Soleil Plage is a 2km away and has a well run canoe/kayak hire - but again book at least a day or two before as there's a big campsite down there so they get booked up. For the adventurous there's a (quite steep) path down to the river from the top of the village - we managed to get a paddle board and a kayak down there to the river. If you do go kayaking I recommend doing at least two days - one day from upstream - a little more 'nature' oriented and should be obligatory for the view you get of the Cingle de Montfort and the Chateau. The other day head downstream to take in the classic castles and cliffs 'package'. WE LOVED OUR WEEK THERE - and Bise was the perfect base

Une superbe demeure et un accueil inoubliable

Un magnifique appartement rénové avec un goût remarquable. Dès la porte franchie, on se sent dans une vraie maison familiale, "chez soi". Tout est mis à disposition pour ne manquer de rien. Emmanuel, le propriétaire est de très bon conseil et vraiment sympathique. Charlotte, qui nous a accueillis est une vraie pépite ! Un rayon de soleil, toujours souriante et ultra attentionnée. Nous reviendrons sans aucun doute !

Excellent séjour

Semaine parfaite à Monfort ! l'appartement bise, correspondait parfaitement à la description. Très belle décoration, confort, propreté et équipement très complet. Situation parfaite pour visiter les plus beaux sites de la région. Propriétaire très à l'écoute et ayant à coeur de satisfaire ses locataires.

Magnifique

Cette location est juste magnifique ! On y accède par un très belle et spacieuse terrasse avec vue sur le château de Montfort a quelques dizaine de mètres, le Bourg de Montfort est très typique et très joli La Dordogne s'écoule au pied du bourg avec un point de vue à quelques mètres. L' agencement et la décoration sont de qualités .un très bel équilibre des matériaux et des matières, on si sent vraiment bien et au calme. La literie est parfaite. Propreté irréprochable sur l ensemble de la location Le propriétaire nous a bien guidé pour accéder au gite et, est très sympathique! Il veut que l on se sente bien chez lui et c' est le cas ,il y a beaucoup de petites attentions que nous n avons jamais trouvé ailleurs , c'est appréciable La région est merveilleuse, il y a énormément de balades visites et activités a faire ,on a l embarras du choix Nous y reviendrons c'était juste ...parfait!! Formidable

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. "On se sent bien" dans cette location. L'aménagement est parfait, la terrasse dominée pas le château est un enchantement, le village piéton est calme. Nous habitons Paris et le dépaysement est assuré. La région est riche en culture et en gastronomie. Vivement les prochaines vacances !!!!

excellente location

apres une semaine passee dans l appartement Autan, nous avons passé une semaine dans Bise .ce dernier et tres spatieux , tres clair ,également rénové avec le plus grand soin . nous recommandons cet apartement sans hesiter

Très beau gîte

Nous avons passé une semaine très agréable dans le gîte complètement restauré récemment. Les matériaux choisis sont de grande qualité et la décoration est soignée. Les 3 pièces qui constituent l'appartement sont vastes et claires. Le gîte est situé à côté du château de Montfort à quelques kilomètres de Sarlat dans un lieu-dit calme composé de plusieurs maisons périgourdines. Nous avons profité de la terrasse aménagée pour dîner chaque soir. Je recommande ce gîte sans hésitation.

Paradise

This is an outstanding unit and location!!! The pictures on the VRBO website, although they are very good, do not do it justice. This is a centuries old unit that has been updated with all modern amenities without losing any of its charm. It certainly doesn't hurt that you're looking up at a very impressive castle less than a 100 meters away! It is perfectly located along the Dordogne river, and we were able to walk/hike or do a very short drive to many amazing sites. In the short time we were there we hiked, biked, canoed down the river looking up at the castles, visited many beautiful medieval towns, explored caves with 17,000 year old early human paintings, and drank some of the best wine in the world. The farthest we ever drove was 45 minutes from the VRBO! We plan to go back!

Third visit to this special house

It's always such a pleasure to return to this fantastic property and this was our third visit (see my previous reviews for mor detail). The house is even lovelier than in the photos - the decor is beautiful, it is very clean, the rooms are very spacious and every room has real character. The huge terrace is a real highlight. The booking process is always very easy with Emmanuel and the neighbour, Charlotte, who helps him to take care of the property, is a lovely lady - I always enjoy a good chat with her. The house is perfectly situated to enjoy the very best of the Dordogne and is only five minutes away from Sarlat by car. Montfort is more of a hamlet than a village and is very quiet and very picturesque. We shall, I am sure, return.

Lovely property in a perfect location for exploring the Dordogne.

Amazing property much bigger than expected with a lovely large terrace. Very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Emmanuel offers great communication throughout and Charlotte the housekeeper met us on arrival and showed us around the property. We would not hesitate to recommend.

MUY RECOMENDABLE.

Hemos pasado una semana en agosto en esta casa . Un matrimonio con tres niños de 6, 9 y 12 años. Todo muy bien, muy cómodo, con una gran cocina y una terraza ideal para comer y cenar al aire libre. Las habitaciones amplias y muy confortables y todo muy limpio y cuidado. El pueblecito es muy tranquilo y en los alrededores tienes muchísimas opciones: carriles bici, senderismos, canoas, playas en el río. Además de muchas villas medievales y castillos por el entorno. Un destino muy familiar y entretenido y una gran opción de alojamiento en la zona. Enmanuel muy atento, nos dio muchos consejos. Tanto él como la chica que limpia las casas está localizable y accesible. Sin dudar volvería a repetir en esta casa.

Perfect apartment, perfect village, perfect area

Bise is wonderful accommodation in a beautiful village in a spectacular part of the world. The apartment is perfect - spacious, stylish, extremely well equipped. The location is ideal - toddle to the boulangerie and a few restaurants, and a very short drive to pretty much everything you could possibly want to see and do in this stunning part of the Dordogne. Owner Emmanuel is responsive and easy to deal with, both friendly and professional. We hope to return for another visit soon.

Superb

My wife and I stayed at Bise in June 2017. Bise is the best accommodation we have had in our many trips across France. Bise has been been beautifully renovated and nothing has been overlooked to make your stay enjoyable. Emmanuel was easy to communicate with and the location (bar/restaurant & boulangerie all within a minute walk) just added to the wonderful experience of staying in Montfort. David - Australia.

Ideale Ferien im Perigord

Wir fühlten uns in der grosszügigen gepflegten Wohnung in Montfort sehr wohl. Die Küche war sehr gut ausgestattet, die Schlafzimmer geräumig und angenehm möbliert und besonders die Bäder hochwertig ausgestattet. Unser Vermieter Emmanuel war sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend, nochmals herzlichen Dank! Wir kommen gerne einmal wieder in diese wunderschöne Region Frankreichs.

Fantastic!

Emmanuel was very quick to respond and communication was very good. Charlotte greeted us as Emmanuel was away. She showed us around the house and even made reservations for us at the village restaurant. The house is beautiful. Well maintained. Modern with lots of character. Very spacious. We loved the terrace and spent most of our time outside. Showers were great. The location was perfect for day trips. Patisserie Margot is just a short walk from the house - we went there every morning! Also recommend canoeing/kayaking the Dordogne River, the Padirac Cave and les jardins de marqueyssac. We would definitely recommend staying here! ********
