Tuscan Dream if only…

The house is old but beautiful, however the cleaning standard is not ok. A lot of dusty furniture and spiderwebs in all rooms. The pool area is great, but the rest of the garden is not very useable, there is only one table and chairs, and not a lot of other places to hang out as a family. There are also main roads on both sides of the house, which are quite busy with traffic around the clock.

Great stay!

We were 11 people, (family) staying in this lovely house for ten days to celebrate my birthday and we couldn't have chosen a better house. It's big enough to feel private even if you are a few people. The house itself is well equipped, nicely decorated and the best of it all; it has a lovely garden. Perfect for sunbathing, BBQ-ing or to just simply sit with a glass of wine enjoying an incredible view as the sun sets over the mountains. It was outstanding. And when you swim in the pool in the morning and look over you get the feeling that you are swimming in front of a painted picture, it's very pretty. The villa is located in a tiny village, there is a small café across the road though, a bakery and a butcher's nearby (walking distance). Our kids were playing fotboll with the kids from the village pretty much every night and made some great friends. The owner, Jukka, was very friendly, easy to communicate with and accomodating, thank you Jukka! All in all, I totally recommend this house, we had an amazing holiday here and we all loved it!

Very disappointing stay

Our stay was the most disappointing we’ve had in all our years going away. There was only half a roll of toilet paper, and no soap when we arrived- for a group of 10 people arriving mid evening. The downstairs shower was completely broken. The boiler directly above that bathroom hand basin had a leak, and it was stopped by a plastic bag shoved into it. The light fittings in the bathrooms were hanging loose off the wall. The drain in the shower upstairs wasn’t stuck down, and so there was an open hole down into the floor & drain pipes. We weren’t able to close the downstairs bedroom door because the handle was falling off, as was another bedroom door handle upstairs. Most of the door handles that worked were so squeaky it would wake people up if used in the night. The pool was dirty, and still had toys in it from the previous guests. The ‘lawn’ wasn’t mowed, and was long and very scrappy. Some of the outdoor lights didn’t work. There wasn’t any information about the house & the area left for us at the house. The parking we were told was for the house was full most of the time. We were told we could park in a different spot near the house, only to be given a parking fine for parking there. A general waste bin wasn’t provided. We used plastic bags, which meant it was strewn in the road by animals. We spent the first 3 days having to message the property manager and owner trying to get some of the worst issues fixed.

Thank you for your feedback, it is obviously greatly appreciated and everyone is entitled to review as they please.. I feel I need to answer and provide useful feedback from my side and clarify some points: Firstly, the property management company we used for summer 2023 was on their first season and unfortunately last, as situation such as this is not acceptable. We have rented our house since 2007 and I truly mean it. 1. There is no excuse, that you only had one toiletpaper roll and no soap on arrival, as each bathroom should have had one roll along with soap. Also, no excuse that the door handle (or two, as you said) were loose, these should have been checked and fixed before your arrival. One point to the property management group's defence is that the previous group was very happy about their stay and didn't mention anything, so both the door handle and the shower went unnoticed, but this not an excuse nevertheless. Regarding the shower you are referring to, it is/was for the extra 6th bedroom (and bathroom) which is not left open for each group (unless the bedroom is needed), but since there was a group of 10, we left it open for your benefit of having an extra bathroom. Again, the issue with the shower should have been checked by the property manager and fixed before your arrival. Now, both of these issues were attended to immediately. I spoke to you on late Saturday evening just after you checked-in and again on Sunday. These were fixed on Monday (as it was impossible to get someone in to repair things on Sunday) Regarding the pool, we spoke about this on the phone, om Saturday when you checked-in and you were happy about it. I feel it's important to elaborate the situation. There was a one kid's toy on the bottom of the pool when you arrived, but otherwise, it was very clean, as was also confirmed by you on the phone. As I as explained on the phone, the pool was cleaned on Friday afternoon instead of Saturday afternoon (you checked-in on Sat afternoon), as the pool person was unable to come on Saturday afternoon due to an emergency. So the pool was clean, apart from one kid toy on the bottom, as the previous group's kids had a swim in the morning before departure and left it there. It's quite disheartening to read your claim that the pool was dirty and especially after you were happy when we spoke and I explained the situation. Regarding the rubbish and bins...the whole recycling was explained to you, as this is the way rubbish is now collected in northern Tuscany (Garfagnana) and this is the only way. There are no big bins to dump everything and therefore there is no point providing them, as they simply won't get collected. Items must be put in the correct smaller bins (which are/were all in the kitchen) and placed outside the door every morning when that particular item is collected (bio waste, general waste, bottles etc.) Regarding parking, the village car has served each and every guest for 17 years and I certainty didn't advice you to park illegally, as a matter of fact you never even asked/mentioned this when we spoke or Sunday/Monday when I followed up that everything was fixed and you were happy. I'm extremely sorry your holiday was ruined. I tried to attend and fix everything you mentioned and requested as soon as was possible, but obviously it wasn't enough. Regards, Jukka

A relaxing week

Bra boende i mysig by

Trevligt stort hus med många stentrappor. Inga barngrindar för dessa. Ganska svalt hus. Stolen kom men ingen micro.

Nice but old house

Nice house but old and needed some work. Poor window quality made it hard to keep insects out. Had to remove 6 scorpions from the house. Stove only had 3 out of 4 pits working. Kitchen was worn and dated. Overall still had a good holiday, but as said house should be done up a bit more to fully enjoy the place.

Wunderbare Toskana

Familjesemester i Toskana

Tuscanication

Tl;dr good choice for an Italian holiday. We (a group of 11 friends) had a great time. The historical looking but modern villa is huge. The bedrooms are really big and there was always one of the three toilet available. Cooking for a big group is no problem at all and there is planty of equipment. You can hang out inside, have a snack in the shady garden or relax at the pool. No worries, the pool is in the sun from morning until the beautiful sunset you can enjoy every day. Jukka is a great host. The communication was flawless. Im sure he is a great guy to have one or two beers. The road from the North East (sp72 sp71) is a windy mountain road. If you're not used to it, come from the south.

Classic old style Italian villa in a beautiful part of Tuscany

Lovely holiday over a week in a beautiful part of Tuscany. Bedrooms were large and high ceilings, bathrooms were new and had wet room style showers. Kitchen was fine for six food lovers who cooked in most nights. Loads and loads of room with a good size dining room and living room with tv etc on the second floor. Also there is a massive garden and a large pool - children would adore this. Plenty of parking (car essential in my view) next door to the house adjacent to a cafe/shop which stocks a good amount of essentials as well as amazing croissant style pastries. Brilliant start to the day looking out over the mountains and valleys with a cappuccino and one of these. There is also a good butcher 200m up the road and a baker and a small quirky pizzeria 400 m away. Il Merendero looks like it is in a small industrial estate but ta fine. No menu just fabulous pizzas!! Villetta village is a five min drive along the main road from which you can catch the train to Lucca and Pisa. Brush up your Italian coz there’s not a lot of English spoken around here ( which was great!). Excellent time all round

Relaxing holiday in beautiful Villa

We spent a relaxing holiday in this lovely house in the Italian countryside. The house has 5 very good sized bedrooms and 2 modern bathrooms. There is also a big garden to relax in, which has a pool and some tables which are lovely to eat breakfast and dinner outside on. The house was very clean, had free wifi and everything you could need. There is a bakery, butchers and shop very close by which you can stock up on most things from. It was very easy to spend lots of time just relaxing at the house and in the garden however we also explored the area. I would recommend having a hire car to get around. I would especially recommend Chinque Terre, 5 beautiful costal villages, you can drive to La Spezia then get the train or ferry to the towns. If you get the train there is a car park at the station that you can use and you can get a daily train ticket fairly cheaply. Then you can either walk between the villages, get the ferry or get the train. We did one walk and I would highly recommend doing at least one as the scenery was beautiful, it took around 2 hours and did have a lot of steps but was definitely worth it. We also spent a day in Lucca, a beautiful town that you can hire bikes and cycle around, there are pretty much no cars in Lucca so it is very safe.

Perfect house in the beautifull Garfagnana

With a party of 8, we spend one week in this great property. It was an ideal spot to ewplore the unspoiled and beautifull region of the Garfagnana. We loved the spacious 5 bedrooms, the well-equiped 3 bathrooms and kitchen, , the shady garden and sunny swimming pool. The contact with the owner Jukka and the housekeeper went smoothless. We would advice this clean and confortable house to every group or family, who want to relax in a quiet environment, and visit this unknown but very nice part of Tuscany,

Lovely Villa - Lovely Region of Italy

We spent a wonderful week in this lovely spacious Villa. There were five good sized bedrooms, a beautiful garden and pool and a pretty breakfast terrace. The village was very friendly and had a very good butcher, bakery and small shop/bar which seemed to sell everything. The region was beautiful and was wonderful for walking with hills and spectacular mountains. There were plenty of places to visit, especially Lucca which we visited by a small local train. We spent a week in this lovely Villa in September. The villa was spacious and there were five attractive good sized bedrooms. A pretty perfect holiday house!

Our party of 7 adults and 3 children had a wonderful week in this pretty perfect Italian villa. We all agreed we would holiday here every year if we could. The idyllic and picturesque mountain village of Sillicagnana is the perfect place from which to explore the region. With Pisa a 1.5 hour drive, Lucca a 1 hour drive and other gorgeous villages such as Barga a 20min drive away we made good use of our rental cars, which are a necessity. We visited the local café/bar and bakery daily and were always welcomed warmly. We also visited the Pork festival in the next village of Viletta, and had a lovely evening eating wonderful pizza at the local pizzeria. The house itself is exactly as described - very clean and tidy. The bedrooms are all roomy, light and airy, with plenty of towels, extra blankets and pillows available (if needed). The provision of a cot and baby high chair was perfect and really appreciated. The kitchen is well stocked with pot, pans, plates, cutlery and glassware. Having a second fridge in the utility room is very handy for beverages, leaving the fridge in the kitchen free for the wonderful fresh produce we purchased. The pool and garden are fantastic for both adults and children, with a great variety of pool toys to keep everyone entertained, and more than enough pool chairs for everyone to sunbake in. The BBQ is a great alternative for cooking, with a full gas bottle perfect for many meals. Jukka is the perfect host. He responded quickly to all email enquiries and provided detailed directions to the house and supermarket. The housekeeper and her husband took care of the pool and garden so discreetly that we almost didn’t notice their presence. This Tuscan villa is a perfect getaway in a gorgeous little mountain village. We never tired of the views and could have stayed forever.

Great villa - had everything we expected!

Stayed at tis beautiful villa for a week in May with one other family and 4 children between us. The house is really nice, spacious and with plenty of room for a couple of families (especially as it had 4 bathrooms). The garden where we spent most of our time is very nice and private, and the pool is of course its centerpiece. Although the small village is on the doorstep, it felt very private and secluded. The house was prepared for us by the housekeeper who also met us with the keys, it was very nice and clean, and good quality bedlinen and towels. The towns nearby are truly beautiful and very Tuscan. Would have loved to stay longer to enjoy th house, views and great foods. Lisa and family

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

We fell in love with this beautiful old villa in 2006 and have renovated it back towards it's original charm, so we feel ( and know from feedback) that holiday makers feel the same way whilst staying at our property. It is located in a beautiful authentic part of Tuscany with amazing scenery, food and people.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

We searched through over 30 properties and fell in love with this property/villa immediately we walked in. There were many factors that instantly made us want to buy it. The well kept traditional Tuscan village the villa is located in, the beautiful villa itself, fantastic views, the large garden with a wall around it, big pool. There is nothing better than enjoying a long lunch in the garden under the big tree and then plunging into the pool for a refreshing dip.
