When the four of us (two couples) booked an agriturismo villa in the heart of Tuscany, we were hoping for a complete immersion experience of Tuscany’s vineyards, countryside, medieval towns, and people. This lovely villa and surrounding towns gave us all that and more. Alessandro, our host, was so gracious and welcoming. He opened his vineyard and his home to us. The vineyard has been in his family for 500 years and his home is the original 1843 villa. All were phenomenal! We were fortunate to immerse ourselves in the harvest of his grapes from vineyard picking to the vat holding tanks. The countryside and views were breathtaking. The sunsets were magical. And when we heard the bells, the sheep were coming to visit! We’d highly recommend this true slice of Tuscany.

Allessandro is a fabulous host, the views are stunning and the house is so rustic

We were welcomed by some lovely wine produced from the vines around the house itself, what a start! Allessandro was so helpful with everything from restaurant reservations through helping me to plot out which vineyards to visit and in precisely which order (twice!). He showed me around his own wine production facilities hidden away nearby to the property. The pool is saltwater which is far better as a general swimming experience and it's all about a metre and a half deep so the youngest (5) was confident swimming as she could bounce off the bottom of the pool easily when needed. You should be prepared to do a lot of home cooking (we love that so this was perfect). There are lots of great sights to see nearby but the winding roads mean it takes a fair while to cover distances, that's worth noting for oldies. My only pointer for allessandro would be to add lots of heavyweight shade for around the pool for white English people like me. He made a great job of gathering together some umbrellas for us last minute and those were an absolute lifesaver for us, the house being on a wonderful hilltop with fantastic views comes with the advantage of a breeze by the pool... but that also takes down any lightweight umbrellas. Overall this was a five star stay, around the house we saw porcupines and wild boar and deer and all sorts of other treats, such is the isolation and natural beauty of the place. I'd love to add photographs to this review - spectacular views, no exaggeration. Thanks allessandro (also for the surprise gift on my birthday since he noted the date in my passport!!) - lovely man

Perfect

4 bedrooms for 4 single ladies exploring Tuscany together. I am writing while we are at the villa, our week is nearly over. Welcome was warm and helpful, house was stocked as we had asked, house was very clean, and flowers in each bedroom. Lovely large country kitchen and living room with great fireplace. Could not be happier.

I just wanted to say thank you, grazie for helping us realize our dream of staying at a farmhouse in Tuscany. Montecucco was perfect, we loved it! Alessandro was wonderful, very charming and helpful. The highlight of the trip was the Tuscan dinner cooked by Liliana. What a fabulous feast! I am recommending it to everyone I know. Arreviderci and a presto

You have asked me to review the lovely Montecucco, and I do so with joy, even though it seems such a long time away. Thank you very much for your hospitality! We all loved our time at Montecucco, the villa is amazing and we would all love to return one day ( and also visit you in Vivo d’Orcia to share your wine ).
