2 Wochen im Paradies

We just came back from a two week stay in wonderful Villa Ariadni on the west coast of Crete, and what can I say - we already miss it. If you want to “get away from it all” Villa Ariadni is the place. Do not let the current political discussion worry you – we haven’t experienced any problems, everything works, the people are very friendly, the sea and the sky are still blue - in short: Greece is still there. After landing in Heraklion and a 3,5 h drive along the coast we arrived in Keramoti where we were greeted by Niko, the friendly manager. (Suggestion: Have his phone number ready) He showed us the property, explained everything and then we were treated to a traditional Cretan dinner delivered by a taverna nearby. A bottle of white wine was already in the fridge; we also found some groceries for our first breakfast (coffee, butter, eggs, bread, juice, marmalade, ham, cheese and olive oil) Everything was just as described, only better. The house and the grounds are relatively new, spacious well maintained and very clean. All the necessary appliances including WiFi are there and up to date. There is a 16 m pool (finally one where you can swim) great view and its quiet. One doesn’t see or hear the neighbours, no disco in the vicinity, very little traffic on a road sufficiently far away – it’s just the wind and the cicadas. If there is something missing, Niko will organize it for the next day. Just give him the shopping list - it saves you a 50-minute-drive to Kissamos. He even managed to get fresh fish for our grill from the daily catch of the local fisherman. Activities: We drove around the west coast a lot and hit some of the major beaches for a swim in the sea. If you want sand, then Elafonsi beach and Falasarna beach are the places. Elafonisi is quite popular, there are regular bus shuttles. We prefered the pebble beach of Sfinari - not as crowded, no sand in the wind and two nice fish restaurants directly on the coast. The coastline close to Villa Keramoti is mostly rock and pebbles, but there are some nice spots; for example at the little harbor down the road. You can even reach it on foot (great hiking in the vicinity) – bring swimming shoes. The “house” restaurant of Villa Ariadni is the Taverna “Gialitis”. The owner, Yannis, maintains a delivery service. So, if you don’t want to cook but prefer to eat on your “own” terrace - moussaka and everything els

Calme et sérénité absolus

Hospitalité, propreté, serviabilité, calme et vue imprenable font de la villa ariadni un havre de paix et de récupération indéniable. Un petit paradis où nous serions bien restés deux semaines supplémentaires...des gens très accueillants, serviables, discrets et à nos petits soins toujours prêts à rendre service et avec ce sourire légendaire qui fait du Crétois tout son renom. Espérons revenir un jour...

merveilleux sejour a la villa Ariadni; pas de deception par rapport aux photos;la vue sur mer est epoustouflante,et la piscine extraordinaire,vu la difficulté du trajet pour l'atteindre nous avons eu l'impression d'arriver au paradis.merci a Niko pour les gentilles attentions (nous vous laissons la surprise!) et sa disponibilité; bien sur c'est LOIN de tout,mais c'est ce qui en fait le charme, la maison est tres confortable et bien concue, nous reviendrons avec plaisir

Villa Ariadni - Traumurlaub abseits touristischen Trubels. Eine traumhafte Villa mit unschlagbaren Meerblick umgeben von Olivenhainen an der Westküste. Für die Inseltrips ist unbedingt ein Auto erforderlich. Um alles weitere kümmert sich bei Bedarf Gastgeber Mario, der jederzeit erreichbar war. Sehr zu empfehlen sind die kleinen, sehr ursprünglichen Tavernen in der näheren Umgebung mit tollen mediterranen Angeboten.

Es ist ein ruhiger Ort, mitten in der Natur und absents von Rummel. Bis zur nächsten Taverne sind es 10min Autofahrt. Unser Hund konnte sich frei bewegen, da das Gelände bis auf den Treppeneingang abgetrennt ist von der Umgebung.Der grosse Pool war sehr schön. Die Aussenanlagen hatte eine schöne Sicht aufs Meer. Es war sehr sauber. Die AC war gut. Der Eigentümer ist stets leicht zu erreichen bei Bedarf. Wi-Fi ist allerdings nicht zuverlässig, und für Leute die auf Internet angewiesen sind nicht geeignet. Auch waren die Betten im mittleren Zimmer extrem hart und nachmittags, wenn die Sonne tiefer steht, fehlt ein guter Schattenplatz. Ansonsten war das Haus gut ausgestattet und sehr angenehm. Wir würden wieder kommen.

Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit. Die Sonnenuntergänge und der Ausblick sind sensationell. Das Haus ist wunderschön, passt sich in die Umgebung gut ein. Es ist etwas abgelegen, ein Auto ist erforderlich. Aber genau das verschafft die Ruhe und Erholung. Es ist ein so schöner Ort den man am liebsten nicht mehr verlassen möchte. Schwer zu topen !

Gem on the mountainside

Amazing views, sunsets, best ever villa experience! We have had the most relaxing week here. Some lovely tavernas all very welcoming. Niovi was extremely pleasant and helpful offered to get our shopping for us instead of us driving. The coastline is spectacular but the only downside is the roads, a little scary in places but all part of the adventure! Fabulous ! will certainly return very soon.

Gorgegous villa!

The villa was just as described. Very clean with modern amentities. The yard is the star of the show with incredible views and several sitting areas. The roads on this area of the island are not for the faint of heart.... No street lights, lots of turns, single lanes and often no gaurdrails. We found the tavernas in Kampos to be best local options for food. Lefteris was our favorite and has incredible views. We would stay here again!

Peaceful private oasis with breathtaking views

Our family if 5 stayed here for two weeks and enjoyed every minute. The villa is perfectly located on a hill with spectacular views overseeing the ocean, with superb location in relation to the immaculately beautiful sunsets the area experiences. There are only a few other villas in the area and our villa had full privacy despite this. Very well-functioning villa with two beautiful master bedrooms (each with a whirlpool, a personal bathroom and a beautiful terrace) and one basic room with two separate beds inbetween the master bedrooms. We were happy to discover that cleaners visited twice per week with great service. Pool, heated whirlpool and several table sets were nicely placed so as to have sunshine or shade at whatever time. The telescope was a really nice bonus as the sky was clear with stars and further illuminated by the moon during the nights. Nice taverns with authentic cretan food within a short driving distance, while some offer home delivery directly to the villa. The beautiful Elafonisi beach is a pleasant coastal drive away (approx. 30min). Unlike the touristic areas of Chania and Elafonissi, the area around Keramoti is largely untouched nature and unspoiled Cretan villages. The area is located off the main roads. It's worth studying the area a bit in advance with physical maps since google maps is not quite accurate with recommendations for best routes. Both Niovi and Mario were very kind and helpful hosts and we were greeted with considerate and swift help whenever they were asked. We rented a car from Keramoti cars via Keramoti villas. This worked well for us; the car was clean, new and well suited for Cretan roads while the rental process was very smooth. Thank you Niovi and Mario!

Gemütliches Ferienhaus in ruhiger Lage mit großem Pool zum Wohlfühlen

Das Ferienhaus liegt ganz ruhig an der schönen Westküste Kretas. Es hat einen wunderschönen Aussenbereich mit großem Pool und verschiedenen Sitzmöglichkeiten für einen traumhaften Sonnenuntergang. Es ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und man fühlt sich sehr wohl!

Beautiful views

Hi We loved our stay at this villa. The views in all directions were breathtaking. We enjoyed local walks and trips out to local tavernas. The hosts couldn't do enough to help us, the house was very comfortable and the pool was a treat. We had a little trouble with some of the local roads as there had been heavy rain and some landslides. We found this a good excuse to relax and forget too many outings.

Oase der Ruhe

Wir waren im August 16 Tage in dieser wunderschönen Villa. Wer Ruhe sucht wird es hier lieben! Bilder und Beschreibung stimmen zu 100%. Klasse Pool! Die Betreuung durch Nico ist super. Immer ansprechbar. Wir hatten zweimal Stromausfall. Nico hat uns stets unaufgefordert informiert, wann das Problem behoben sein würde. Wir bekamen bei Anreise 4 Termine mitgeteilt, zu denen geputzt würde und Bettzeug wie Handtücher ausgetauscht würden. Auch das funktionierte einwandfrei. Die Damen und Herren, die sich um uns kümmerten waren unglaublich freundlich. Weil wir gerne olympische Spiele sehen wollten, aber kein deutsches Fernsehen bekamen, schickte uns Nico innerhalb von wenigen Stunden einen Techniker, der die Satellitenschüssel neu justierte und so für den Empfang von Deutschem Fernsehen sorgte. Das war wirklich toll! Das WLAN funktionierte dagegen nur im Schneckentempo. Für WhatsApp hat es gereicht. Viel mehr dann aber nicht. Von den anderen Häusern haben wir nichts mit bekommen. Man hatte wirklich absolute Ruhe. Die muss man auch mögen, denn der Weg nach Kissamos, der nächsten etwas größeren Stadt ist weit. 45 Minuten Fahrt muss man rechnen und das durch die Berge. Es ist wirklich einsam gelegen. Von der Hochsaison bekommt man hier gar nichts mit. In der Ecke gibt es außer einigen Tavernen und ein paar nicht wirklich gut sortierten Mini-Markets nichts! Wir empfehlen daher direkt auf dem Weg vom Flughafen den ersten Großeinkauf! Der bekannte Strand Elafonisi ist nur etwa 20 Minuten per PKW entfernt. Ein wirklich tolles Fleckchen Erde. Im Sommer allerdings sehr voll. Nur wenige Minuten vom Haus (rechts abbiegen Richtung Norden) gibt es eine einsame Bucht. Von der asphaltierten Straße muss man links in eine unbefestigte Straße abbiegen. Nur mutig runter fahren! Glasklares Wasser, Felsen auf die man Klettern und ins Wasser springen kann. Herrlich! Menschenleer, sogar im August. Badeschuhe sind aber empfehlenswert. Es handelt sich um eine Steinbucht. In Sfinari gibt es ebenfalls einen schönen Strand mit drei Tavernen. Auch nicht voll. Wir können das Haus jedem empfehlen, der Ruhe sucht und nicht täglich ausgehen möchte.
