Hello, I am Liz and my husband is Quentin. We are both now retired, I trained in art, and was an air hostess, where I met my husband whilst in India. My husband who is Irish, was a ship's-captain on long-haul and fast ferries and worked on passenger ships with the B.I. Company in India. We have one son, who lives near Paris. He has a French wife, and one son.
I was born in the midlands of England, so discovering this wonderful villa was pure magic. The climate is really exceptional and we can now live a full life with many days of sunshine.
We love this corner of the world and enjoy sharing its beauty with our visitors. We have made lots of wonderful friends who return year after year.
Come and enjoy the gorgeous healthy Mediterranean diet with fresh local produce in all the markets . Savour the delicious homemade food created by generations of grandmothers. You will find tiny restaurants nestling in the mountainside where you can try gorgeous dishes such as wild boar with ravioli, or local cheeses or charcuterie. It is so much better than what you will find in all the touristy areas on the coast. Being adjacent to Italy there is a strong Italian influence in its menus and culture.

If you like skiing you can drive into the Haut Alpes and within no time you can be skiing down the local slopes. Interesting mountain resorts await you. You can also hire the equipment.
Those of you who enjoy water sports are spoilt for choice. You can hire a sailing boat or canoe locally. We enjoyed our own sailing boat for years and spent many weeks exploring the coast of both the Cote d’Azur and Liguria. A day out on the water is fascinating and you can escape the summer crowds. The islands nearby are beautiful and worth a visit. All can be done in a day and directly from Le Contadour. We would be happy to give you recommendations.

We chose to live in France, and fell madly in love with this lovely villa at first sight! It is unique in that it is very private, surrounded by beautiful terraces with olive, lemon, and orange trees and yet it is on the doorstep of Nice and all the major attractions of the Riviera. It is centrally located for all major towns, motorway and airport. The National Park of the Pre Alpes begins only a kilometre away.
We love being able to walk into the village and share a coffee and croissant with our new French friends.

The famous institutions such as the Fondation Maecht and the Matisse Chapel are close by with wonderful exhibitions of art and sculpture.
Shop for fresh fruits and vegetables in local markets. Taste the huge varieties of cheese from the mountains.
Even in the short winter months, Gattieres is sheltered from the frost and snow and you can sit out most days to enjoy lunch on your terrace. We get 300 days of sunshine a year.
