Perfect for our needs

Our stay was a great one! The location was perfect and the lake access, with private beach and kayaks, was a huge bonus for my kids. The cabin was a good size for our family of four. We wanted to be close to Camp of the Woods, but be on our own meal schedule, so we could not have had a better location. Being right next to the Speculator Inn was another bonus. Check-in and out was easy, communication was great with the owner. We're hoping to come back again!

Good Times

Nicely appointed home with decor that sure makes you feel like you’re in the great outdoors, even when you are inside. Everything you need is close by and the warm lake water and sandy beach down the lane is great for a swim. Restaurants and boat rental nearby. Nice deck with gas fire pit and a Mack-daddy Weber grill round it out.

Relaxing cottage experience

Really Great Place

We had an awesome time staying at this cottage; it had everything needed for a getaway. The porch was beautiful! We went during off season (April 20), so not much in the town was open…but the local brewery was very great! The house has a great entertainment room (TV and surround sound). Also a plus that we could bring our dog for some local spring hiking. We would definitely return!!!!

The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. The deck was great and we enjoyed relaxing on it every night. The beach access was beautiful and we hope to return there in the summer when water is warmer. Check in was a breeze and so was checking out. Can't wait to return.

This place was amazing. Very clean and checking in and out was so very easy. It has everything you need for your stay. Well stocked kitchen and bedrooms. Clean bathroom and the deck with the firepit and the grill was perfect for cooking and relaxing outdoors. We hope to visit again soon with the warmer weather for use of the beach. Owner response was immediate with the few questions we had.

Home away from home!

This was our first family vacation since the passing of parents/grandparents. We felt right at home and our children (cousins) absolutely loved having so many activities available (biking, kayaking, fishing, swimming) within a short walk to the lake and at no additional cost. Lake Pleasant and Indian Lake were childhood favorites of ours and being able to share that with our children and feel so comfortable and at home was perfect! Thank you!

Amazing!

My first time using VRBO and I can't imagine an overall experience topping this one. This cabin is a gem. Remodeled inside with new and beautiful knotty pine, and just perfect. And it is by far the "smartest" house I have ever been in. We went in the winter, and will go for in the summer to enjoy the lake. We will be back - and soon!

Comfortable visit

Owners were responsive and addressed any questions we had during our stay. The place had everything we needed especially compared to what was found in other cabins our family stayed at during the same time period. The experience here was more comfortable and centrally located to outdoor activities as well as various places to eat in the area. Clothes, food and maybe a couple board games were all that was needed. Rain prevented us from getting out in their kayaks, but they were accessible and the lake was a 2 minute walk down the local shared drive path. Washer and Dryer were helpful due to the aforementioned rain. AC and heat were both exercised during our visit without issue.

Excellent vacation

I’ve been vacationing in Speculator all my life. My family has a house on the lake and there isn’t enough room when we’re all there at the same time. Being able to get a house in town was great, even better that it has its own beach access with lots of amenities including kayaks, a fire pit, BBQ grill, and more. The house was perfect for three of us. It can accommodate six, but that may be pushing it with only one bathroom. We only had minor inconveniences including the Amazon Echo Dot giving daily weather updates without prompting, including once at 1:30 in the morning, and the bath towels provided had an odor of mildew on them, but a quick wash and they were fine. Overall, this was great! Would definitely come back again if this property continues to be available.

Smaller than expected

1. The check-in process was smooth and the house was, for the most part, as good as described. 2. However, it was so much smaller in real life than it seemed on the photos. A pretty small cabin indeed. 3. The beach was so tiny and we are not allowed to get on the bridge. The two kayaks were not there, either. Not much to do at the house besides watching TV. 4. The towels are really old and well used. The mattresses in the small bedroom were super uncomfortable I had a very bad sleep during the two nights there, and it pretty much ruined my experience at this house. The kitchen equipment (pots and pans) were old and scratched. There was no dishwasher nor dish rack and tray. 5. The kid loved the bear themed interior, though.

After reading your comments, the homeowner wanted to share the following: -"The pictures taken by Evolve accurately represent both the size and décor of the home as well as the beach area. -Regarding the dock area, it is important to mention that it can become a safety liability when children do not follow safety guidelines, especially given the presence of boats stored there. Access to the dock is primarily intended for boat owners. -For your convenience, the three kayaks and yard games are stored in the garage, which some other guests have found without any trouble. -The bedroom features a twin over a full bunk bed, which we hope would cater to different tastes. -The pots and pans in the kitchen were replaced with new ones less than four months ago, ensuring a well-equipped cooking space. -As for the towels, we replace them as they become worn, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and comfort. Our commitment to all our guests is to make the best possible stay, and we look forward to this property hosting many satisfied guests as evidenced in all other reviews."

Exactly what we needed

My fiancé and I were looking for a place to get away in the Adirondacks and this place delivered exactly that. The check in process was very simple and concise. The rental was filled with everything we needed and more. This is definitely our favorite place we have booked so far. The host was wonderful and went above/beyond to fill the space with things to make it feel like home. Speculator, we will be back.

Perfect for Family Ski Trip

5min from Oak Mountain, which is an extremely convenient small Family Ski Resort. Cottage is airy, clean, and bright, which is very enjoyable. Everything works well and makes you enjoy the stay (Wifi is strong !) Outdoor is safe for the kids to play Very good local advices from owner.

Cozy home away from home

The home was very quaint and comfortable very roomy open window stunning view of mountains Loved the pellet stove at night it was relaxing. Open the back door off deck 2 min walk to Lake very private. This beautiful home had all amenities needed. Short drive to stores grocery & souvenir. Nomadder which direction going by car breath taking views of mountains fall colors and lakes. 25 min drive to Indian Lake after that Blue mountain lake..plenty to see and take in the good energy and vibe...loved that this home was dog friendly and had good size yard to Lake..great experience and owner of property was very accommodating friendly and attentive I would definitely return to this home again. Book your reservation they have kayaks right by Lake drop them in and enjoy the view.
