Summer Getway to Cape Breton

Our stay at Eberhard's Cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Located right on Bras d'Or Lake surrounded by wildlife and natural beauty. It was very private with a short drive to St. Peter's. A great place to stay as a starting point to travel the Cabot Trail. Eberhard was a very kind and helpful host. Would recommend to others.

Great private getaway!

We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was beautiful! We were somewhat disappointed the road to St. Peter’s was closed but it allowed us to visit more of the area, with the detours and all. Propre mais sans plus, tapis à la grandeur bactéries, humidité, odeur. Pas de tv, ni satellite, ni wifi, nous devions refaire la moitié du chemin, dans une côte très à pic, pour avoir le wifi....l'hôte aurait intérêt à enlever le tapis car c'est une source de microbes, de bactéries, d'odeurs, d'humidité. Il m'a fallu prendre mes pompes et j'ai même saigné du nez..., la plage est de galets et est assez basse par rapport au chalet et le chemin est assez accidenté.

I am sorry that you did not get what you expected at the cottage.On my website there was no mention of TV, Internet, but a reference that you couldget Wifi 100m up at my parking lot. Most people just park their car there if they donot want to walk up the lane.Many guests who come to my cottages, quite a few of them repeat guests, value the view, the silence, the beautiful beach, the swimming, the kayaking, canoeing, fishing and are fine with a rather rustic cottage that is also affordable for a family.However, I will soon replace the carpet in the living room with a parquet flooring.

I haven't had such a comfortable and peaceful holiday in a long time. I can recommend with a clear conscience the cozy and clean cabin with all the amenities in the kitchen and bathroom. The beautiful nature with the lake is etched in my memory forever and I would love to come back if there is a chance. The host is very pleasant, provided all the comfort and gave valuable advice with his knowledge of the locality. Thank you Eberhard.

The property is in bad shape and needs an update to be vrbo worthy. There’s a bad urine smell in the cabin, lots of ants (more than just a few as you may expect in a forest). The level of minerals in the water caused that washing our hair was not possible, we had to go to a hairdresser to get it properly washed again.

I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay in our log cottage as did so many guests before. Yes, it is a rustic cottage and ants can show up at this time of the year. I sprayed outside and within a day the number of ants diminished considerably and the new guests did not have a problem. The water in our area, coming from a deep well, has some minerals, but no chlorine. The smell can come from sulphur in the water. So far noone had a problem with taking a shower because of the minerals. Our repeat guests are coming every year for the beauty of the surroundings, the quietude, the gorgeous beach, swimming in the Lake, kayaking and canoeing for free. Again,I am sorry that you could not enjoy your stay as much as I and you hoped for.
