Perfect getaway for two

We had a lovely stay over the weekend. The cabin is cute and cozy, plenty of space for two. Big king sized bed. The check in process was smooth. The big bear vacation staff were friendly and informative. 100% would recommend staying again.

Great getaway

This was a great place for a quick getaway for some skiing in the nearby slopes. The cabin was ultra cozy and had everything we needed. The private hot tub was the cherry on top for relaxing after an active day. I do wish there was a coffee maker other than the keurig, but that was only a minor inconvenience.

Very cute for two people, perfect size. We stayed for a long weekend. Nice rustic decor. Hot tub was especially nice, the fireplace in the upstairs loft was too. Had kitchenware and some basic toiletries. Would definitely come back again to this place and recommend.

I booked this through VRBO but received the rental agreement from “Big Bear Vacations.” The VRBO listing included a hot tub - one of the main reasons I booked it. On arrival, the hot tub was filthy & empty. I called & was first told that the property should have a working hot tub. Later, they changed their story & said I must be getting my information from a 3rd-party site & that the property doesn’t include a hot tub. The online rental agreement process was also frustrating. They required a selfie through their online tool, which didn’t work. They then complained the photo submitted wasn’t a selfie & said the name I used didn’t match my driver’s license. I go by Sandy, but my license says Sandra! I recorded a screen video to show their tool wasn’t functioning. Emailed twice to confirm whether they had what they needed - never received a response.The tone of the rental agreement felt hostile & unwelcoming. In the house, instructions were scattered everywhere instead of being in one clear place. The Wi-Fi password was written in tiny lettering on the fridge! The fridge was completely empty, not even a water container or ice cube tray.There were plenty of towels, which I appreciated, but nothing else about the stay felt welcoming. There were multiple “Private Property – Keep Out” signs, which didn’t create a comfortable atmosphere.Overall, this stay was a major disappointment, especially given the high ratings. I honestly don’t understand how this property earned them.

Everything was fine with the property. We checked in around 4pm, and got to the cabin shortly after. Our main thing was to enjoy the hot tub at night. The hot tub took all night to heat up and was ready around 10am. We check out at 11am. We weren't able to enjoy the hot tub like we intended to. (It was really the hot tub as to why we chose this place)

Great weekend getaway

I wanted to surprise my fiancé for his birthday and take him somewhere that would feel like we were totally out of LA. This cabin was great and so was the rental company. The main office was very nice and the check in process was super easy, Louie and Sophie were super friendly and helpful. When we got to our cabin, accessing the lockbox and getting inside was very easy and the cabin is nice and clean and adorable. It was just like the pictures. We used the hot tub after we got back from dinner and it was amazing... they have it hot and ready to go and you can tell it is regularly cleaned. Also, random side note, but they gave us a free little container of spices as a gift when we checked in... (see photo) As someone who cooks, I just loved this! We will definitely be booking with Big Bear vacations again! Thank you!

It did the job

A couple of areas needing improvement. The upstairs loft has 2 windows and 2 skylights. The unit has no air conditioning. Add these together and, in the summer, you’ve got a very hot bedroom as the loft is where the bed is. Recommend adding blackout blinds to the skylights/windows and perhaps installing a window unit ac. The location is very convenient to everything Big Bear. The hot tub was clean. The rest of the property is acceptably furnished and accurately represented.

It was a very nice getaway. We liked the cabin feel and the ability to watch tv in both areas. A couple things that could be improved: the price was high for the number of hours with the fees included. We ended up paying a lot for just one night. The loft was nice but hard not to bump your head on one side. The sky light could have a shade to block out the light. The shower curtain is way too short. Ha ha. The kitchen really had nothing. No paper goods, no snacks, no spices. Overall good location. Thank you.

Good space for 2 or 3

Summary: Ready to use cabin. Hot tub was hot and clean. Bedroom area has a faux fireplace/space heater that kept the area warm. Downstairs main heater works great on the rest of the cabin too. Sunroof in the bedroom let's the light in at dawn which was nice for us since we were up early. Good: hot tub, king bed, cozy cabin for 2 Bad: coffee maker is a kuerig. This should be stated on the listing, not just "coffee maker" as you have to get different supplies at the store since you are not providing kcups. Check-in requires an office visit and a wait in a line at a service desk which is not as convenient as online booking and check-in. Called the office diring business hours and they answered 2/4 times I called during my stay.

Pet Policy-Pet Friendly Homes Only-$40/Pet/Night
Pets must be acknowledged and may not be left unattended in the home. Owners must clean up after pets; subject to added cleaning fees for violations.

All homes include clean linens, and fresh bath towels for the occupancy. A kitchen with basic cookware and small starter amount of dish soap, toilet paper, and trash bags will be supplied. Paper towels, coffee filters/coffee, specialty appliances, nor condiments/spices/oils are supplied.

No Pay-Per-View Ordering in any homes.

No refunds/credits for cancellations or trip interruptions due to acts of nature, (especially snow, fire, power outages) weather, road conditions, mechanical or electrical failures, spa malfunctions, or other equipment factors beyond our control.

This is a forested mountain community home to critters- animals or insects you may encounter are spiders, moths, flies, squirrels, gophers, bears, coyotes, burro, bear, bats, etc. Our team inspects prior to arrival but cannot guarantee the home will be free of these forest critters.

We reserve the right to offer a comparable property or issue a full refund if circumstances arise that are beyond our control and your property is made unavailable for any reason.
