This enchanting slope side chalet sits high on Timberline Mountain and it is just a few steps to the Dew Drop ski trail. An open floor plan on the main level affords plenty of space to gather and views from all levels. Mountain Dew offers two large family rooms each with a fireplace, 5 bedrooms and so much more. A large, elegant master bedroom, with updated bathroom provides plenty of privacy on the upper level and includes a new comfortable desk and chair for those who have to do a little work, even on vacation. Other bedrooms are spread between the main and lower levels. The large kitchen and open floor plan make socializing easy for everyone. On the lower level you will also find a family area and a mud room with shelving and hooks for all of your adventure gear! Free WIFI. All linens are provided. Mountain Dew has a hot tub on the main level deck for a relaxing soak after a long day of exploring or skiing! Year round, this is a perfect location for an unforgettable family reunion or friendly retreat. It’s a quick and easy drive to Blackwater Falls and Canaan Resort. Perfect for commingling families with teens, tweens and in-betweens. Well behaved canines are welcome too! Four wheel dirve vehicles and good winter tires are required for winter access.

A Beautiful House with plenty of space

Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed a girls' getaway weekend and Mountain Dew fit our needs perfectly - open floor plan on the living level with a spacious kitchen, dining room and living room, and plenty of beds so almost everyone had their own space. The hot tub was an added bonus!

Great Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was just what we needed for our group. Everything worked except for the gas fireplace on the main floor and they sent maintenance out quickly to resolve the problem. I was told by one of our party that the door to the outside deck on the upper floor would not lock, they might want to check that.

I’ll be back!

It was my first VRBO booking and I was quite pleased with all aspects of the experience. The roomy, comfortable home was a great launching pad for all of our activities; white water rafting, hiking, horseback riding, fly fishing and more. It was a great getaway.

house had no air conditioning. It did not say that on the listing. We had 10 people and a few had allergy issues. I know it is a winter destination but a simple note that says it does not have air would have helped tremendously. The People at the rental office were excellent and got us changed to different house. Just seemed to waste an extra day moving .

I also loved that it was at the end of the road. We let the boys ride bikes and play outside without fear of a passing car. Definitely will stay again!

Great location but it needs some attention

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit is a fabulous location right off Lower Dew Drop. The upstairs shower was moldy, and the carpets were grungy. The kitchen needs new pans as the teflon was peeling off, and they were rusty. I gave it four stars because the location is so great.

We are glad you liked the location of Mountain Dew. It is a wonderful place to stay while enjoying the great skiing at Timberline Mountain. Ironically, the owner had purchased new cookware that was still boxed but in the house during your stay. It is unfortunate you didn't take advantage of it. Calling the office to report issues is always a great option, and the best way to have issues resolved. The end of ski season brings spring and the time for all of our popular ski homes to have thorough cleanings, inluding professional carpet cleaning.

Last minute ski weekend

Great location slope side. Very nicely decorated. Kitchen has everything you need including a large crockpot. The house worked very well for out 3 generations with 10 people total. Our only issue was with the aged hot tube that couldn’t seem to get hot, temps ranged from 91 to 96 on the floating thermometer. Maintenance did respond promptly but the issue persisted. We were offered a refund of the hot tube fee but we declined since we still used the tub. We loved the location and will rent there again.

Could Have Been a 10

We stayed in this beautiful home with our extended family. It is spacious and beautifully decorated. The layout and location were perfect! The only thing that kept f It from being a 10, was the fact that we paid over $1800 for 12 people to stay for 3 nights and the bathrooms only had one roll of toilet paper each and we only had the trash bag that was in the waste basket. Also there was a Nintendo Wii with lots of games that my grandchildren were excited to play after a long day of playing outside. We couldn't get it to work and when I sent the owner a message, their response was, " I don't know. Build a snowman". Having said that, I would stay there again and recommend it, just come prepared.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The curb appeal was completely lacking! I was afraid I was staying in a shack. The inside was beautiful--maybe the best ever of houses rented in Canaan. Nice decor, great couch, good linens. Some upgrades I would suggest are central air, comfort height lo flow toilets, improved water pressure (the shower would slow to a dribble if anyone in the house flushed the toilet. And we suffered from an attack of mice. Many food containers were knawed and food was eaten.

Thank you for your review of Mountain Dew! This is indeed one of the best houses in the Valley! We will assess the mice situation right away. All houses in the middle of the mountain are naturally exposed to wildlife. To avoid this type of incident we always advise our renters not to leave doors open during long periods of time (particularly during summer), keep food properly stowed and keep all areas (inside and outside) clean at all times. We are thrilled you enjoyed the house and hope to have you back to Canaan Valley soon!

Relaxing Getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, our experience was enjoyable. Yes, we would stay here again. A 30-40 foot walk to the nearest slope was very helpful also. Really only two minor negatives: 1. Fireplace startup was a bit odd as no one like to reach into the fireplace to start it. 2. The size of the hot water tank is not large enough to use the tub in the master bedroom without causing a recovery delay for others to use water for showers . I would invest in a larger hot water tank. Everything else was very comfortable, cozy and pleasant.

An Awesome Girl's Getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I booked this house for a MOMco Leadership Retreat initially for the secluded location and the size. I wanted a house that could accommodate our large group, and offer us ample space to work. The house was gorgeous, and all of the women raved about its beauty. My only critique is that the house does not have central A/C and therefore was quite stuffy during the day and we could not figure out how to operate the ceiling fan in the living room. (We rented during the first week in August.) Thankfully, the evenings were quite cool and we were able to open all of the windows and screen doors to let the mountain air come in. If the temperatures had been hotter, I'm not sure if the stay would have been as enjoyable.

Beautiful views..of construction

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There were so many things that we wanted to love, but coming to this area over the course of 30 years has taught us that looks are often deceiving. The home used to be one of two on the end of a dead end road but what we weren’t told was that there was an active construction site next door. Given the lack of AC, there was no way to keep the noise out which made it impossible for the infants in our party to sleep. BoC claimed to be completely unaware of the construction even though work crew indicated that it had been going on for a month.We had recurring issues with appliances throughout our stay with the dishwasher working once and not again even after several maintenance visits. The realty indicated that the homeowner was not going to replace the unit and had instead opted to try and repair though by the time we asked for a refund for the last half of the week, had not arrived. I have no problem washing dishes, but given it was disappointing to be sure.Finally, while BoC acknowledged the issues and apologized, they were completely unwilling to provide any additional compensation beyond the nights we requested a refund for. They did offer to place us in other properties, but none would have worked for our group, or been close enough to the rest of the group that we came with (6 houses total).If the house had AC, we would have been able to shut out the noise and we would have dealt with the other issues. We hope that the owner will consider this upgrade in the future.

Easter weekend with the family

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We stayed with our children and grandchildren for four days over Easter weekend. The first day we hiked up the ski slope and went to a playground in Hendricks. The next day we hiked up Seneca Rocks and toured Seneca Caverns. On Easter Sunday, we went to Pendleton Point at Blackwater Falls State Park for Sunrise Service and then went to see the falls. We returned to the rental house to find Easter baskets. After another hike to the top of the ski lift and some hot tub use, we colored eggs.
