In response to this review, we were and are profusely apologetic for the construction, which occurred the day after their arrival, 7:30am - 4:30-5pm and the next morning between 7:30am - 10am; one day plus a few hours in total. We responded instantly, offering a choice of a partial refund or pro-rated stay. They took several days to respond to us about that. We refunded them the day they departed, a full third the total rent, equivalent to about 2 1/2 days. They had demanded more than double that. They had also asked for a discount upfront when they first called to rent our place, saying they were friends of friends of my sister's, but they were somewhat demanding and pushy right away, so I did not consider it. We had been told that the cottage immediately next door would be vacant at least until July, if not the whole summer, and had no knowledge at all of work being done. We worked with the caretakers immediately, after finding out about it, to make sure the workers were only there 10-10:30am- 5pm. These tenants were complaining about construction at other cottages around the cove which we cannot control. It was raining on the day there was construction noise, and while less than a "Typical Maine Day" can be disappointing, there are such wonderful things to do --The Seal Cove Auto Museum is up the road - amazing array of vintage cars; tide pools at Wide Water if it's light rain and you have a good rain coat! There's a great movie theatre in Bar Harbor that serves food during the show, so many wonderful things to do and see. As far as the bathtub, its brand new and had they told us, we would have addressed it. It has since been remedied. We're new at this and it's a process. I get back to tenants right away and we have fantastic caretakers on hand. It's a beautiful spot that has been in the family since 1947 and for us it's paradise despite it's rustic nature.

We appreciate the time taken to write this review, however, if you had communicated to us about these things, we would have made every effort to remediate. Communication is so important! We will certainly take care of the fridge, see about lighting (our family always has candle light at dinner and we enjoy looking out the picture windows at the sunsets) and we will address the issues with the new tub as well. Again, we appreciate your taking the time to review us and encourage you to communicate more immediately in the future instead of waiting to put your complaints in a public review without giving us a chance to address your concerns.
