Zigzag Mountain Lodge - Meredith Lodging


A warm and inviting log home surrounded by forest and Zigzag Mountain views. Gather your friends and family in the vaulted great room with the open kitchen and fireplace for an evening of fun. Prepare a delicious feast in the modern, well-equipped kitchen, then dine with friends at the dining table. Or step out to the back deck and grill dinner on the gas BBQ, then gather around the fire pit for al fresco dining.

You will relax in the private hot tub with Zigzag Mountain views, serenaded by the sounds of the Zigzag River. Share stories and good times with friends around the firepit just off the deck or retreat to the upstairs loft in front of the 52-inch TV to watch sports or your favorite movie or you can play games and build jigsaw puzzles.

You will have plenty of room for 8 guests with the two bedrooms downstairs each with a queen log bed and a shared full bathroom. The spacious upstairs bedroom includes a king log bed and queen log bed and a wall-mounted TV for bedtime TV watching. The second full bathroom is upstairs.

Your dog is welcome to join you at the Zigzag Mountain Lodge at an additional charge. Just up Lolo Pass Rd and to the east, you can access FS Road 19 Trail, a gentle 4-mile out-and-back trail that is perfect for runners or walking your dogs.

The perfect getaway

This beautiful lodge is clean, well decorated and very well-equipped. It’s convenient to local restaurants, yet in a quiet location at the end of the road. You can hear the river from the back patio. We would definitely recommend staying here.

The location was beaitiful, a little closer to neighbor's than thought but still secluded and private.Clean and very comfortable!!Would suggest to have less dishes in cabinets to give room to put food or supplies in. All dishes and utensils, spices ect.. provided for. Wish they had storage bags or foil. But otherwise Hot tub was great even in the rain!!

Zigzag mt Cabin

We gathered as a family to be together because we recently lost a grandson. We loved having our dogs with us, the house was very well equipped to house us and allow to prepare meals there. Enjoyed sitting outside, playing games inside, exploring the trail just off the deck, spacious. The upstair floors creaked really loud so tho use sleeping below woke earlier than planned, over all we loved our stay.

We did run out of paper towels and napkins. So, perhaps could stock extra for large groups. Good ski discount ($14 cheaper since ski lift tickets were more expensive over MLK weekend/holiday). Friendly staff. Very clean cabin.

We do provide a starter supply of paper towels and napkins (2 rolls of paper towels and about 50 paper napkins), so we suggest that guests bring extra if they know they will be using these items alot. The house and property are beautiful, but in need of a deep cleaning. The couches had food particles and fur on them when we arrived, and the house was full of flies as if the doors were left open for quite a while. The house was nice and big, the dishwasher was full when we arrived so we had to unload and reload it. The downstairs bathroom needed the gasket firmly pressed on each time after flushing out the water would run. And there’s a family of birds or something living in the chimney, which was pretty loud. Aside from that it was nice and quiet, but definitely not worth the price we paid. Had this been a few hundred dollars cheaper, I might have seen the value but not for this price.

Mice Everywhere! Nosey Neighbors and Threats of Violence!

Let's start with the good: the place is nice overall. Zig Zag is a quiet place. Now, the BAD: we watched and counted over 20 individual mice scurrying across the floor each night. And the neighbors? They love to turn on their flood light if you go on the deck or into the hot tub. Want to walk down the path toward the river? Don't! You'll be met with "No Trespassing" and "Trespassers will be Shot" signs along the way. Very disheartening. When we asked if any of the couches double as beds (pull outs), we were told that "No, none of the couches are pull out beds." However, that would be incorrect. One of the pieces of furniture upstairs does have a pull out bed. We suggest skipping this one and finding another in the area. Plenty of hikes to enjoy and Mt. Hood really is just minutes away.

Zigzag is rustic; therefore, encounters with animals may occur, but we are sorry to hear you witnessed mice in the home. We reached out to the property team and verified access points were sealed off and traps were set post-stay. Regarding the pull out couch, there is an occupancy limit; thus the pull out is not advertised/listed as a bed. We spoke with the neighbors, but unfortunately, they will not redirect the light, and we did not see any posted signs on our visit. We loved hosting you, and do hope we have the opportunity to provide you with a better rental experience in the future.

Private base camp for Mt Hood adventures

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: When we arrived I was surprised by how many houses are on the street, but tucked away at the end of the road it still felt very secluded. The location is amazing: walking distance to two restaurants if you aren’t afraid of the highway, close to trailhead for multiple trails, short drive to everything else. A few close general store locations for essentials you’ve forgot. Instructions did mention to bring toiletries but I hadn’t thought to include shampoo and body wash so these came in handy! The hot tub was an amazing treat after long hikes. Bugs aren’t too bad but def used spray and citronella. Bedrooms were very cozy, quiet and dark. We did see a few mice cruising around upstairs in the evenings, but they really kept to themselves. Very nice accommodation for the price, would happily use again and have already recommended to others!

Family Getaway

Close access to local food places and a store, short drive to Government Camp, and a hot tub and fire pit! We really enjoyed our time relaxing in the cozy living area, making meals in the kitchen, and lounging upstairs in the family tv room. The huge windows showcase the falling snow perfectly. The home was very clean,and they did have warm throw blankets throughout the rooms that were excellent. The only issue was the power went out, which we didn't know was connected to the water. So we had no power or water for most of the day on our second day. No fault of the home, but I guess common for the area. The phone (landline) did not work during the outage and when the power came back on, realized it didn't work at all. There is WiFi but once that went out we had no service at all at the home. There is a gas stove, but no matches or lighters provided. So we spent a lot of time driving to hunt down provisions as all stores in the area were closed due to the power outage. We also needed to drive out of the neighborhood to get cell phone service. A good suggestion would be to have matches and a lighter available for these situations. For future guests, a good idea is to have these things and bottles of water just in case! A few minor things were also noted - the microwave tray was missing, and there was no working can opener. Love that this place was pet-friendly and our dog had a great time playing in the snow around the front and backyard area. The home is located on a short drive and is quiet and private. The management company has a convenient text number that you can use to communicate and they were responsive. You can't go wrong with this home!

There were plenty of games and puzzles to play with. The location was close to the store and a few restaurants. It needs some updated couches as the cushions really shouldn’t be called cushions anymore. They have been well loved. Mattresses were comfortable. The place wasn’t spotless, but wasn’t filthy either. It probably needs a deep, deep clean. Lots of dust everywhere. Overall, we were satisfied with our getaway. Especially during covid!

Beautiful stay on Mt. Hood

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved our stay at the Zigzag Mountain Lodge. It was part of our honeymoon, and it was perfect. The cabin itself is really pretty and very comfortable. Our only issue in the house was that we couldn't figure out the TV - it seemed to have Roku but we were never able to make it work. But we actually didn't even ask the rental agency for help because it wasn't that important to us. I'm sure they could have given us instructions. Aside from that, no issues. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and dishes, so it was easy to bring in groceries and take care of all of our meals. Another review mentions that the hottub wasn't very private due to the neighbor...don't be swayed by that. We did see the neighbor a couple times, but we never felt like it wasn't private enough, and their house is far enough away that it really wasn't an issue. When we drove in, we thought it was a little less secluded that we expected, but it is very quiet and it was actually nice to walk down the road and see the other houses in the neighborhood. It's a very pretty road with other nice cabins and houses. And the location is really convenient to great hikes (or skiing if you go in the winter.) We absolutely loved it and would definitely stay again.

Such a great getaway!

We had plenty of space, found the kitchen super well-equipped for our needs (we’re a family of cooks), enjoyed the hot tub, and our canine family member became a hiking addict. We loved being able to see and hear the ZigZag river at night through our open windows. We would absolutely stay here again!

Wifi and TV worked perfectly and we felt quite at home there. High quality rental would definitely go back.

Fantastic rental.

The perfect getaway

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house was the perfect getaway for our family! With the stress of covid we needed to get away, and I’m so glad we chose Mt. Hood vacation rentals! The house was clean, quiet, and had all the amenities you would want. It was an absolutely beautiful modern cabin in the woods with the zigzag river behind it. We walked all along the river and had a blast. The house was great! I will definitely stay here again, and I would recommend it to everyone!

Family time at Zigzag Mountain Lodge in July

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We came for some family time with 7 adults and 2 children. The upstairs bedroom is very large (and very bright, without coverings for high windows) and accommodated 2 adults and 2 children. However the upstairs loft has fold outs which were very uncomfortable and kitchen was not quite up to cooking for that many. Oh well, we enjoyed the large great room and gas fireplace as well as the hot tub and proximity to many hikes and outdoor activities. I think this space is very nice for 6-7 people at most depending on sleeping configurations you need. Also, would suggest staff confirm it is ok with the neighbor for people to walk through private property to trail access next to this home.

Not worth the money

Reviewer Comments: The furnace was very loud, the floors creaked so loudly the people in the downstairs bedroom had trouble sleeping and there were mice in the house.

Comfortable, Peaceful, Rustic, Beautiful

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This home was wonderful. It had everything we needed including the peaceful sounds of the river through the trees. The home was beautiful inside and out and had plenty of space for us to move - including our little one. It was perfect distance to snow and sledding areas. We did come across a couple of mice inside the house that looked to be getting into the house through a little hole near the fireplace. Unfortunately we noticed a lot of dog poop around the property which was frustrating when walking around outside. Lastly, the home really needed to be dusted. While these things were a negative to the home, overall, we enjoyed our stay and the home was perfect for our family. We would definitely come back and are thankful to have been able to enjoy it.
