Tazewell House was even better than its description and pictures on the website. So spacious with many rooms that provided my family of four with their spouses and children plenty of privacy and room. Hosts were very helpful and prompt in responding to us with our questions. Great location! Looking forward to staying again.

An absolutely delightful stay for a three-generational family. Enough bedrooms on two floors to accommodate everyone with some degree of privacy. Bedrooms were large and well-lit with numerous windows. Kitchen was well appointed and large enough for multiple activities. Two sitting rooms on the main floor allowed us to dedicate one to the kids' play activities and one to the adults' conversation. House is a little far from the beach so we rented golf carts which were perfect for our needs. Cape Charles is a charming town with many small businesses. Very family friendly. Kids made new friends at the beach each day. We will certainly return again, both to the town and the house.

We loved this house and would definitely recommend it for large groups! We go on an extended family vacation annually, and everyone voted this the best house we’ve stayed in over the past 10 years. We had 18 people total—9 adults and 9 kids ranging from 8 months to 11 years old. Everyone had a bed, plus every bedroom has a connected bathroom. There are even two washing machines, which was a huge perk! The bedroom setups have been rearranged slightly from the pictures, but the layout is even better and the sleeping count is still completely accurate. We also rented golf carts and everyone loved riding them around town every day! To top it off, the hosts were responsive to my every question, usually within minutes.

So glad the home was the best house your family has stayed in—happy it fit 18 comfortably, that every bedroom had a connected bathroom, the two washers were helpful, and the layout worked well after the rearrangement. Great big house for extended family stay

We had four families with seven children and this house provided lots of space and rooms and bathrooms for everyone to spread out and enjoy. We’ve stayed in many houses in Cape Charles before and this was definitely top notch!

Summer Family get away

We loved the house so very much. I love the new touches and the old charm of the house. The bedrooms on the second floor were amazing and the downstairs provided lots of space for four families:))

Space for all

Well appointed historic home in Cape Charles was a wonderful base of operations for our family reunion of 15. Big rooms, high ceilings, comfy beds for all. We spent many hours on the expansive front porch enjoying beautiful May weather.

Special times

11 of us got together to celebrate 50 years of friendship after meeting Freshman year in college. We've gathered annually for most of those 50 years. This was very special. The house was great! Nice and roomy which we've grown to appreciate over the years and well cared for. It was like a home. It was also so much fun to be able to walk to the beach and all the fun stores!

Nice but not quite the bang for your buck.

I’m glad I read the previous review RIGHT before our arrival, so then I knew 1) toaster did not work 2) BIG BIG BIG ant problem (and a couple cockroaches)- everywhere- including a bedroom- pretty sure it followed us home. There were ant traps in the bedroom so this must not be a new issue for them. 3) tub/shower not draining 4) the landscaping needed some work. 5) dining room could not seat all of us. I was told there was a pack and play at the property by property management- but there was not. The area is wonderful, the house is extremely spacious. Thought we booked a gem, but it was just so, so.

We had a few nit-picks about the house that we communicated in-person. We made great use of the front porch and the kitchen was a wonderful gathering area. The house was clean and well-appointed and the property manager was very responsive during our visit. We would highly recommend Tazewell House for any large group/family gathering.

I Tazewell House

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I grew up in an older home, so when we found the Tazewell House, it was the next best thing to heaven and we felt right at home. It is a spacious beautiful home and a great location not too far from the water I would like to suggest a few things, the entire outside of the house needs to be power washed including the porch. The yard was poorly maintained and overgrown in order to keep sand out of the house. We use the hose in the front yard to spray the children off before they went in the house. It would be a positive for the owner to put a simple outdoor shower in . When we arrived, I felt like the downstairs was not clean properly. There was sand on the furniture as well as the floor. The kitchen trashcan was filthy . The bedroom that my husband and I stayed in had bathroom problems. The sink and tub did not drain well and the toilet would flush, but it would continue to run. The management was very dedicated and trying to fix the problem but I don’t think the problem was ever fixed. There was also a bug and ant problem in the house and honestly it needs to be addressed. The toaster in the kitchen did not work. These are all very minor things. The last thing I would like for the company to note is when you rent toward the end of the summer it does not look the same as if you rented at the beginning of the summer I almost feel like in someway the rent should be less. This is just a thought.

We all loved the charm and style of the home and it stands out as one of our favorite vacation homes. A few tweaks would make it better like more chairs for the dining room so our large group could dine together and regular size coffee mugs, and maybe quieter room AC units for a few of the bedrooms. The town itself is quaint and driving around in golf carts was a blast for the kids.
