Just what we needed!

We were looking for a quiet and relaxing break and that's exactly what we got! Mornings on the deck with coffee while watching and listening to the many birds were great starts to the days. The house was clean and set up nicely. The updates you have done so far were very nice and we look forward to staying again sometime.

Fall Hunting Trip

Great for a hunting group! The heat is set to 48 degrees so it was a cold first night but otherwise good for our group.

We're happy to hear that our property worked well for your hunting group, and we're glad to know that, overall, your stay was enjoyable.We apologize for the discomfort caused by the temperature on your first night.We typically set the heat lower when the property is not in use to help conserve energy, but we understand that it may have felt too chilly when you first arrived. Going forward, we'll ensure to better communicate how to adjust the temperature right away to suit your needs. It typically warms up to the set temperature within about 10 minutes. Additionally, we are working on an upgrade to allow for remote adjustments, so we can have everything set and ready for our guests in the future.Thank you again for staying with us, and we hope to welcome you and your group again on future trips.

Great weekend getaway!

Cozy lake house. Large yard, perfect for yard games, grilling, or a fire around the fire pit. Bonus that yard games, a grill, and the fire pit are all provided! Additionally, having access to the kayaks and life jackets was fantastic. And the neighborhood cats (Jack Jack & Tig) were a big hit with our son!

Amazing views & lots of wildlife

We had a great time considering it rained most of the time. We enjoyed the amazing view of the lake and lots of wildlife! There were numerous geese the first day in the morning and then again in the afternoon/evening. On the 2nd day the adult geese showed up with a whole flock of baby geese! There must have been about 25 babies! So cute. There were Sandhill cranes, red-headed woodpeckers, racoons and squirrels! Had a great time! Will be back!Thanks!Susan

Lovely Lake Cottage

The view of the lake was amazing! Having the kayaks readily available on site was a fantastic perk. We were out on the lake everyday. Bonus that the area is surrounded by state land AND we had great weather! The layout of the cottage was exactly what we anticipated. No surprises. Very clean and very cozy. The internet connection was top notch. We didn't care that there was no cable. We never turned on the television. All in all, a great week! We would recommend to family and friends AND would return again.

Disappointed

Entered on dirt road Not equipped for seniors 70+ We are 70+ but don’t have mobility issues. Low beds, low toilet and bathroom not equipped with grab handles. No cable TV Can not fish from shore and no where to rent a boat on lake. This facility is best suited for families with children even though there is no beach access.

We strive to listen to our guests and continuously make improvements. Here are the actions we are taking based on your comments:- We have ordered additional box springs to raise the beds by 8 inches, making it easier to get in and out of them.- We have plans to remodel the bathroom.- We will invest in a taller toilet and install grab handles for added convenience and safety.- There is excellent dock fishing available and guests can bring their own boats.- Due to the cabin's remote location, boat rentals are not available on the lake.- We are considering adding a fishing boat to the property in the future.- Currently, we offer fishing kayaks for guests to enjoy.- We offer a large DVD collection and HDMI capability for streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime.- Birch Haven Getaway is designed to encourage guests to unplug, with numerous indoor and outdoor activities available.Again, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We sincerely appreciate your feedback, as it helps us understand our guests' perspectives and identify areas for improvement. We had a GREAT time staying at this cottage for a 4nt trip. The best part was definitely the kayaks!!! We puddled around the flowage/channels, as well as out on to the main part of Tubbs Lake and Lower Evans Lake. Mecosta is known as the "Everglades of MI" and we saw so much wildlife- turtles, herons, swans, loons, kingfishers and more!!! LOVED it! We even fished from the kayaks and had amazing luck with bluegills, sunfish and crappies not far from the cottage. Beautiful sunsets from the pier and kayaks for the last evening floats. Relaxing and unplugging at it's best...The patio/grill area was used each night (and morning for coffee!), as was the fire pit. Yeah for smores!! The kitchen is pretty well stocked with cooking/prepping necessities, spices, Keurig pods, and containers- we did not eat out while here, so can't attest to area bar and grills or otherwise. We did visit Fate's grocery in Remus- it was full service and reasonable.The surrounding neighbors were quiet while we were here (midweek), and the 8 wandering cats entertained our girls, but our dog was not as happy... He doesn't like cats, and it was not easy to let him outside without one or 2 wandering around somewhere. A few were VERY friendly, most were skittish. Lastly, Stacey was very responsive and easy to communicate with. Bonus- the beds were very comfortable too!
