Part of a historic farmstead (founded in 1857) newly renovated, secluded country retreat - beautiful farm house set alongside classic granite rock formations with 360 degree views. Girls weekend
The home was wonderfully appointment and beautify styled. For the 7 of us ladies. The owner was easily reached for getting lost - thanks Siri haha. Some lovely drives to maldon Castlemaine. And even threw in a winery. All the appliances and necessities for a home stay made eating in very easy. Would highly recommend

Dream location and farm stay
The property itself was very clean and well stocked with everything from good quality bathroom provisions to kitchen condiments although we ate out most of the time. The property manager Jamie was very helpful and also gave us a lot of tips about interesting places to visit. We would definitely go back again for a longer stay in this lovely farmhouse with a lot of Privacy and stunning views. We were only 6 adults in our fifties but there was another spare room for another couple with bunk beds so ideal for two More kids. Highly recommend the location and maldon getaways staff.

Magic!
We can’t fault this lovely property. It was all we hoped and wished for. Quiet, spacious, impeccably clean, comfortable, warm and so welcoming. Communication and instructions were excellent. And the views? Ensconced on the front verandah in the warmth of the sun, gazing over open paddocks and hills, two horses ambled by being ridden down the track. Time suspended. Again, out by the fire pit in the glow of the setting sun, rugged up with blankets provided, the smoke drifting into the air, surrounded by magnificent trees……and the scent of the gums. Magic!

Wonderful country getaway
We really enjoyed our time at the country cottage. It was beautifully furnished and the hosts provided lots of extra touches to make it feel special. We arrived at night so were very grateful they'd left lots of lights on. We loved the Zero Co bathroom products and the hamper upon arrival. Having a firepit was great too, and that view was superb!

Hillview is part of a 500 acre property - a real working sheep and hay farm. The farm house is in a secluded elevated spot in the natural surrounds, well away from the work-a-day happenings, nestled in the heart of the 6th generation Lillie Family Farm.

An original Art Deco house, Hillview was specialty designed and built by a known Deco architect in Essendon in the 1940’s. A local Italian ceiling and cornice maker was engaged to hand-make and design a bespoke cornice for each room in the house. The original and unique cornices can still be seen in the bedrooms, lounge room and part of the kitchen – they are rather extraordinary. The house was lovingly restored by the family that lived there for 26 years, before the property was sold for development. The owner, wanting to save the beautiful and quite unique house from destruction put a call out for interest in buying it for relocation, and it came to live on our farm.

The farm was settled in 1857 by Thomas Lillie, and is still owned and run by Great, Great Grand-son Greg Lillie. It harbours a treasure trove of local and family historical artefacts and stories, kept lovingly by the Lillie family descendants.

Greg himself grew up on the farm and prides himself on the natural qualities of the farm while tending to the old ways of caring for the land and animals. The 1200 head flock of Merino sheep enjoy a free-range lifestyle, ranging across the acreage eating the pasture or partaking of the farm-grown hay, often being born and living out their lives on the rolling farmland.

Outdoor Firepit and large deck with outdoor settings and BBQ, luxury linen, super comfy beds, stocked pantry and coffee making extras make the house so very comfortable. Added heating, electric blankets and boutique country house styling along with original and antique/rustic pieces, make the house an ideal country getaway!
