The place is exactly as advertised. Cozy retreat, nothing fancy, and a great location for Mt. Dora. The only hiccup was the parking. It wasn't clear to me where the host wanted me to park. She wasn't very nice when clarifying. Unfortunately, the parking isn't next to the cottage but on the other side of the property. I do understand why--she doesn't want people to fall into the pool. My concern was where my car needed to be parked was too far away to hear if my car alarm went off.

Exactly as described! Perfect for a couple. Kitchen was complete enough to make a huge batch of baked Rigatoni. Bed was comfy loungers power reclined and the air was cold on hot days. The pool was cleaned daily and wonderful. Great parking. Private fenced back yard. Literally minutes from cute downtown Mt Dora. I will stay here the next time we visit my Dad.

I arrived at 4 in the afternoon. At 7 I tried to get on my iPad to answer emails. It would connect to Wi-Fi but not load the gmail app. So I texted the host about whether there was a place in the cottage that was better for reception. Also tv did not work. She came over to the cottage and was yelling that everything was working and this was user problem. It all bothered her. I moved out, and texted her the next morning that I had moved out. In her yelling she said that just because she lived close that didn’t mean she should come over and this was not an emergency. I did not request a visit. She needed to work and could not do anything. I needed to work also. I said I would get out of her way. I will not be treated that way.

We were disappointed that the host never came to greet us. She knew we were Deaf and it would have been nice if she had greeted us. It seemed so strange we never saw the host. She was right next to our little cozy place. The place was nice.

Cute Place

The a/c does not cool the room efficiently, so it made for a hard two nights of sleep. There was a lot of outside noise that contributed to the lack of sleep. (party at the house behind the unit, people talking loudly in the lot next to unit) It is a cute and clean unit although very small. The mattress was very soft. The pool was nice and clean. Check in was easy, and the communication with the owner was good.

We had no problem with checking in and communicating with the owner. The building was clean and stocked. The problem started when a local raccoon came to the property. I contacted the owner she was aware of the issue. We picked up the cat food that was left outside that he was going after. We shooed him away 4 times. Finally I went inside. He came and put his feet in the pool. He walked around the building we were in after sitting on the deck and doing a little grooming. He would not leave. I was not happy. We wanted to grill outside and eat dinner. We could NOT!! We paid for the use of the items described in the listing grill, pool and patio. We were unable to use the amenities offered.After my text with the owner she came home and looked around. She did not come to check on us or communicate via text. At that time I decided we would not come to a good resolution. My husband went outside to talk to her. She said there was nothing she could do. She couldn’t afford to have the raccoon trapped and relocated. She said he was harmless and put out another bowl of cat food for her cats on the property. At which time I contacted VRBO and inquired about a refund. We loved the cats! They were wonderful and welcoming. Unfortunately they like to eat outside and that invites unwanted guests. Before we arrived the owner knew of the situation we were not notified of this before we arrived. I would have asked for a refund and not entered the property.
I knocked on the door and opened it he would not leave.
Wish we could have been in the pool.

Cat door in the bathroom. It was locked but I kept the door closed to the inside unit.

We’re happy you enjoyed the local cats and found the building clean, stocked, and easy to access. While we value your feedback, we remained in communication via text and offered a full refund if you chose to vacate, which you accepted. We have since confirmed that the raccoon has not returned. In Lake County, it is common to see wildlife like raccoons or black bears, especially with new construction nearby. While these animals are generally harmless, their presence is outside of our control as part of the local environment. We have ensured food is kept secure to avoid attracting curious visitors, and thank you for helping us improve the experience for future guests.

We assisted with your luggage and promptly responded to every request, whether it was for additional supplies, refreshing the patio furniture, or providing guidance on using amenities like the mini split and TV. Our guests' comfort and convenience were our top priorities. Additionally, we'd like to clarify that the entire mother-in-law suite was updated in 2021 and 2022 and is in excellent condition. Fees out of control

The pool house was absolutely lovely. I really enjoyed my stay but I thought it was above and beyond what should be required if you're going to charge me $80 to clean you expect me to strip the beds and take the trash out. This will cause me not to come back even though I enjoyed my stay here. I know it's not the homeowner's choice. It's VRBO but that will cost you return visitors
