The property is as described. It is a pleasant cottage with a fully stocked kitchen (though a few sharp knives would be helpful). It is very conveniently located in relation to restaurants and the Vons supermarket. Everything was clean with the exception of the kitchen cabinets, which needed to be wiped down (there was some food residue on them). the beds were comfy, and there were some fun games and jigsaw puzzles. WiFi worked well. My complaint is not with the cottage, but with Avalon itself. The town has some charm, but it is overrun with noisy, smelly gas-motor golf carts. The noise and fumes become really unpleasant after a while. The cottage is right on the street (no setback), so you hear EVERYTHING, including the neighbors' (loud) music. I can't figure out why the local political leadership doesn't try to do something about the golf cart situation. I guess because lots of people keep showing up, so why change it? If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful vacation, I would not recommend Avalon. Maybe you can find something in the surrounding hillsides that is quieter. Maybe it's better in the winter. I'm not sure.
With all this said, we had some lovely hikes--the mountain trails are beautiful (though watch out for tourist-filled humvees charging up the fire roads).
