Built in 1890 this home has been renovated with rustic charm and sits on an acre of land with Hickory Creek running through the back. Wake up and sip your coffee on the patio, deck, front porch or around the fire pit. There's a yoga studio, games room and plenty of space in the back yard for soccer, badminton, cornhole and more. A Note About Staying at a Historic Country Farmhouse

Hickory Creek Cottage is a beautifully restored historic farmhouse dating back to the 1890s. One of the things that makes it so special is its peaceful rural setting, surrounded by nature and wildlife.

As with any country property, occasional encounters with nature are simply part of the experience. You may see insects, spiders, chipmunks, rabbits, squirrels, birds, or other small wildlife around the property. From time to time, you may also hear the natural sounds of country living, such as birdsong, crickets, or the occasional scratching or scurrying around the walls. These sounds are common in older rural homes and are not indicative of a safety concern. This is NOT bear country!

While we take great care to maintain the property to a high standard of cleanliness and regularly inspect and maintain the home, it is simply not possible to eliminate every aspect of nature in a rural environment.

Summer Comfort

As an authentic 1890s farmhouse, Hickory Creek Cottage has all the charm and character of a historic home. Like many older two-storey homes, the upstairs bedrooms can become warmer during periods of very hot summer weather, even though the home is equipped with central air conditioning.

To maximize guest comfort, we've made a number of improvements, including enhanced attic insulation, blackout curtains and blinds, ceiling Fandeliers and portable fans in every bedroom and hallway, and an Ecobee smart thermostat with room sensors to help balance temperatures throughout the home.

Most guests find the home comfortable, but during extended heat waves, the upstairs bedrooms may still be a few degrees warmer than the main floor. We simply like to be transparent so guests know what to expect when staying in a historic country home.

If you're visiting during the summer, closing the blinds during the hottest part of the day and running the bedroom fans in the evening can help keep the rooms cooler.
